Altar Of Oblivion - Previously Unreleased EP Streaming Online
Back in 2006, Danish doomers Altar Of Oblivion recorded a 5-track EP - My Sanctuary. The latter was never released at the time as the band wanted to start afresh, when their present singer Mik "The Wig/Wingman" Mentor joined the band in mid/late 2006. You can listen to the entire effort on Bandcamp player down under.
Comments the band: "Prior to Mr. Mentor's arrival, guitarist Martin Sparvath handled the vocal duties, and just like Leif Edling of mighty Candlemass, Sparvath doesn’t have the best voice around, to put it mildly, which however can be charming at times.
"Altar Of Oblivion started out as an 80s inspired speed/thrash/death/black/heavy - metal outfit with an affinity to doom metal, and this EP showcases a wide variety of genres, including aforementioned subgenres plus cinematic soundscapes, choirs, organ music and transverse flute.
"Also, on a side note, this EP contains lyrics in both Danish, English and German.
Since the original drum tracks somehow vanished from the face of the earth back in the day, the drum parts have been re-recorded by our present drummer Danny "Vitamin B12" Woe. Thanks to former Agent Steel guitarist Nikolay Atanasov who nailed two stunning solos on this EP plus Cheryl Pyle for some enchanting and mesmerizing flute parts on two tracks."
