Tobias Sammet commented: "I'm so happy with the upcoming album that you could put out any song as the first single. But somehow, after the last two years, I felt the need to go full steam ahead as soon as I'm let off the leash. And honestly, it's also cool to know that many would probably have expected a less extreme track to accompany Avantasia's re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. But Avantasia is not stylistically fixed, anything goes, commercial, epic, grotesque or full steam ahead, doesn't matter: All of it is part of Avantasia's very own world. We have found our own pigeonhole and different laws apply there. Longtime fans know that. And so I have the feeling that "The Wicked Rule The Night" is unpredictable, exciting, fresh and new, despite my trademarks, as you know them from Avantasia or Edguy. Playing it safe is a lot of hogwash."

This is a killer if whole album be like that they will win a lot of awards.. Heavy song, best song from them ever.

Now what a surprise! This one takes me back to Edguy's Hellfire Club era. Definitely the best song to came out from the Avantasia camp since the beginnings, for sure. Didn't know Tobias still had this kind of sound in him.

After Metal Opera they were just not that good enough to stand among other great bands (new and old ones), they were living off of their names and past achievements (although Moonglow was pretty nice for the most part). Admittedly I dont care about the storytelling aspect of their music, which is another great part of their appeal, so that may have a part in my judgement. My two cents

Awesome track. Surprised to see so many people saying Tobias hasn't been "metal" in a long time. Did no one listen to Book of Shallows from Moonglow?

The chorus is addictive and sounds like it could be on Edguy's Hellfire Club and Ralf is great as usual. Let's wait and see what the whole thing will sound like.
