Finnish bassist Matti Aikio has been passed away. He was known for his work with Silentium, with whom he played between 1995 and 2018. He also played bass between 2019 and 2020 in German band AvatariA.

Silentium comments:
"It is with immensely heavy hearts that we must tell you our beloved friend and brother Matti has passed away on 24 August. His death is tragic, untimely and in a word: unfair.
His contributions as a musician, lyricist and an exceptional human will never be forgotten and his memory cherished as long as we breathe. Thank you for everything, Matti. In forever sleep, dream on."



AvatariA adds: "Unfortunately we received no nice message. Matti our bass player who played at AvatariA from 2019 to mid 2020, passed away on 24.08.2022. Matti, you were a faithful soul with a lot of fun and joy of playing and we are proud and happy that we got to know you and that you accompanied us for a bit. Have a safe trip!"
