So, I look like a typical dude who listens to metal. Long hair, beard, tattoos, battle jacket. All the stereotypical stuff. When I show people, many of whom don't listen to metal, and tell them it's my favorite band, I always feel like they are a little surprised. Alcest creates the most beautiful music I've ever heard while undoubtedly playing metal. They continue to be an example of how metal can be cathartic and embody the most beautiful things in life. L’Envol is just another prime example of this and I can't wait for the new album. I'm going to pre-order it the second it comes out. Side note: When I saw Alcest in Chicago in 2015, Neige was just chilling by the bar. He wasn't drinking he wasn't talking to anybody. He was literally just standing there. I couldn't believe it. I went up to him, shook his hand, thanked him for his music, and asked him if he was enjoying Chicago. He told me yes, because he went to the zoo earlier that day and got to see some penguins. What a guy.
