Nine Inch Nails - Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross Win Golden Globe Award For 'Best Original Score'
This past Sunday, January 5th, Nine Inch Nails members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross took home the Golden Globe Award for 'Best Original Score'. Reznor and Ross' critically acclaimed score for Luca Guadagnino’s movie Challengers was nominated in two categories for the 82nd Annual Golden Globes - the annual awards ceremony for excellence in film and American television productions.
Reznor and Ross’ work on Challengers was nominated in the "Best Original Score – Motion Picture" category, which they won. The duo beat out the scores from Dune: Part Two, The Brutalist, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, and The Wild Robot for the honor.
The soundtrack song, "Compress/Repress", was nominated for "Best Original Song - Motion Picture". That award went to "El Mal" from Emilia Pérez.
Since diving into scoring roughly 15 years ago, Reznor and Ross have amassed over 33 awards, including two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes, two Grammys, and an Emmy.
Up next, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are set to reunite with Luca Guadagnino again for the movie After The Hunt.
The winners were revealed during a live telecast, aired on CBS on January 5, 2025, which was hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser which made her the first solo female host in Golden Globes history. Glaser managed to sneak a System Of A Down reference into the award show. While introducing actress Glenn Close, the comedian jokingly referred to her as the “former drummer for System Of A Down.
System Of A Down guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian immediately responded on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Bet you didn’t know!!!! Bet you didn’t know!!!!! Somewhere between our first drummer [Ontronik Khachaturian] and John [Dolmayan], Glenn Close was tearing shit up on the drums for us!!!!!!”
