Soen - Bassist Leaves The Band; Former Bassist Rejoins
Swedish progressive metal band Soen has officially parted ways with bassist Oleksii "Zlatoyar" Kobel. In his place, the band has welcomed back Stefan Stenberg, who previously held the position from 2013 to 2020.
A statement from Kobel reads as follows: "Can you believe it’s been over four years of this incredible journey together? So many tours in so many countries, unforgettable festivals, sessions, and magical moments. As far as I know, this has been the longest-lasting and most stable lineup in Soen’s history — but nothing lasts forever.
I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be joining the upcoming tours. It’s time for me to take a break.
I’ve had so much fun, and this has been a truly unforgettable experience — full of both ups and downs. I’m grateful to have shared these moments with all of you. Now it’s time to focus on other aspects of life and work on new things. But don’t worry — I’m not leaving the music scene. You’ll still see me around, and I’m always open to good requests and opportunities
I wish the band all the best — there’s so much planned! And who knows, maybe our paths will cross again. So, I’m not saying “Goodbye,” just ‘See you next time!’”
Soen added: ”We want to share an update with you all. Our bassist, Zlatoyar, has chosen to take a break from Soen.
While we will miss having him with us on stage, and in the band. We fully support his decision and respect his need to step away. We are deeply grateful for everything he has contributed in these last 4 years.
We wish him all the best during this break and look forward to what the future holds.
Soen will continue forward, all booked shows will take place as planned and we can’t wait to share what’s new with you all.
The group also commented on Stenberg’s return: "Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Stefan Stenberg returns to the ranks of Soen for yet another powerful adventure! As a key part of the classic lineup, his presence has shaped the sound, energy, and essence of Soen’s journey. And now, that legacy continues.
With Stefan back in the fold, the journey ahead promises to be nothing short of monumental. Brace yourselves – this is just the beginning."
