British folk metal representatives Skyclad confirmed that vocalist/guitarist Kevin Ridley has decided to left the band after 27 years. More can be read in the band's statement below.

Statement from the band as follows: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce the departure of Kevin Ridley from the Skyclad fold. After many years with us Kevin has decided to leave the band to give more time to his family and his other project/band Theigns & Thralls .

"There is never a good time for this decision, but he feels it’s right to move on after working with the band for 35 years, situations change, and times change over what is for some half a lifetime.
We can only thank Kev for his involvement over the years, first as our producer, then as guitarist and finally as guitarist/singer/song writer he’s left us with a lasting legacy and as you can imagine was very influential to the band in general and will be missed by us all in the Skyclad family.

"We wish him only the best for the future and thank him for the many happy years of the past."

Sorry to say but to me the only vocalist that count when it comes to Skyclad was Martin Walkyier.

Time for Martin Walkyier to come back into the fold. He didn't exactly have the greatest singing voice, but it suited the band, and his vocals are basically one of the main factors that made Skyclad...Skyclad.

Would be fascinating to hear Martin Walkyier back in a prominent band - I doubt anyone listened to his bands for vocal technicality anyway, it was the lyricism and personality that made him so strong. But I've also not followed skyclad since silent whales, so presumably there is a big back story about his (non-) involvement in metal that probably explains why he'd never return, even though it would be sick

I dont think band will put studio album out soon, its more live band. Ive listen them once, few good strong albums in beginning, rest is OK, better as average but not so good as older ones
In Martin case I hope Sabbat will put some new music out and The Clan Destined debut to
