There’s something intriguing about a band making a decade-long return with an album that felt like a taster of more to come, and then the same band releasing a record with ‘Part I’ in the title that feels very complete in its own right.

Finally! And part 1 suggests there is more to come...
EDIT: apparently, it will be a trilogy, so that's great. I believe all three parts are completed as well, which would explain why it took them so long.

Funny that it's only Part 1 of a trilogy, but feels like more of a complete album than Leaves Of Yesteryear, at least to me - between the re-recording and the cover, that release always felt like a borderline EP to me. I am liking this quite a bit on first listen - nothing is as instantly memorable as the title track of the last album, but it's just solid Green Carnation, and the black metal/Grutle cameo on The Slave That You Are works for me

Great album, superbly crafted and thoroughly enjoyable. Now I'm looking forward to hearing what part 2 can bring.

Compared to the latest "In the Woods..." record, this one dominates in every facet. Exactly what I want out of progressive metal.

This album is seriously starting to grow on me now, it has impeccable songwriting and something keeps drawing me back to it.

So, is Tchort still in the band? He's not on this album, but I can't find anything about him leaving the band. Kenneth Silden may have left, as well.

Tchort appears in the video for the title track, so I assume he is still in the band.

This is just okay. In fact I liked their last one and it was way better than this.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘
