"Truth Inside The Shades" is really surprising because the band knew how to do something different. Nowadays, there is a lot of bands that plays Melodic Black/Death Metal and every time at 99% there is nothing really new. But with Persefone that's different of course there is all the ingredients that you need in this music, the blacky vocals, the powerful melodic guitar riffs, the fast tempo, the double pedals drumming and why not some keyboards. But well the musical structures of each tracks of this band are really complex, this is more progressive than a lot of bands, the bass are very audible, the keyboards are very present very technical but this is also the numerous break in the music which give this specific aspect to the music of Persefone. You'll have in a song classic power Melo-Death metal and one min later something more in the vein of the coolest folkish parts with clean vocals of an Opeth for example. Some other time
The musicians are all very good and the music of the band is really well done. It don't suffer of any real problems and at the opposite this is really good to see the musical level of this guys. Really that's a great point for a newcomer to have such musicians.
The production of the album is also very good no problem in it, a good sound, only six tracks plus an intro yeah but 43 mins of music, it's hard to expect something more from a band which releases its first album. This is maybe more a MCD in the form than a real album, but really who care, the quality and the length are here then no problem for me.
Persfone with their "Truth Inside The Shades" gives a big kick in the ass of a musical style which become unfortunately nowadays too much banal. With this album they prove to us that it's again possible to do something different, something original and we should thank them for that, they deserve it.
If you like this Metal I really recommend you this album which is one of the surprise of the year. A must have no doubt?
