After 13 years, Brazilian progressive power metal band Angra and vocalist Fabio Lione have decided to part ways. Replacing Fabio is going to be Alírio Netto.

Statement from the band as follows: "It is with deep gratitude and admiration that Angra officially announces the departure of vocalist Fabio Lione. Fabio is an extraordinary singer and a unique human being, who marked our history with his dedication, his artistic sensitivity, and a voice capable of moving and impressing audiences around the world.

"For 13 years, Fabio dedicated a huge part of his life to Angra, often away from his home in Italy, his family, and his routine. This constant effort, always carried out with professionalism, passion, and generosity, is something for which we will have eternal admiration. There were countless trips, exhausting tours, hours and hours in the studios, and moments that will forever remain in the memory of the band and the fans.

"Over time, Fabio ended up becoming a little Brazilian too. He incorporated our culture, our language, our humor, and our way of seeing life. He became part of our musical family and won a special place in the hearts of the fans who always welcomed him with immense affection.

"He is very dear to all of us, and his presence has profoundly marked everyone who had the chance to work or live with him. His legacy within Angra will be remembered forever through the music we made together and our time sharing the road and life.

"We wish him all the success and happiness in the next chapters of his journey. We sincerely thank him for each year of dedication and for the memories we built together. Our admiration remains intact, and the doors will always be open for him."

"Fabio will say goodbye to Angra at the Bangers Open Air show. Thank you, Fabio!"

Angra on the new vocalist: "Angra is pleased to announce that Alírio Netto will be on vocals for the historic reunion show at Bangers Open Air, where he will headline on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Alírio is an internationally recognized singer, notable for his performance in Queen Extravaganza, the official Queen project, and for his solid career in musical theater, where he starred in major productions such as 'We Will Rock You' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar', among others. His versatility, vocal power, and stage presence make him the perfect choice for this very special moment."

"What a happy day, my friends! My deepest gratitude to Rafael, Felipe, Marcelo (my soul brother), Bruno, and Kiko for their trust in this new chapter. I also thank Paulo Baron for his support and welcome during such a special moment. Thank you to the Angra fans for welcoming me on this journey that is also yours. I arrive with humility, respect, and deep love for this band. I will do my best to honor, with profound respect, the legacy of Fábio, Edu, and the late André Matos, great inspirations in my life," says Alírio Netto.

A very different statement from the band in comparison to Arch Enemy a few days ago!

I believe Angra achieved their prime, 21 years ago, during the Temple Of Shadows era. Edu, Kiko, Rafael, Felipe and Aquiles was the best prog power metal team from Brazil. What these guys achieved with this album was pure sonic plenitude!
I wonder how they feel about it currently, if the band sees it as an achievement that belong in the past, if there's some (slim) chance of a reunion for renewed glory?
I mean, Angra still active but I feel they never achieved the same highlights, and are somewhat quiet nowadays.
Is this a time for renewal?

Fabio Lione is an amazing singer, a legend in Power Metal, but his voice never really fitted 100% in Angra. He did his absolute best and gave it all, that´s for sure, but i think it´s the natural end of a cycle in the band.

Who´s next? Probably the return of Edu Falaschi or Alirio Neto.
