Carrion Vael - Slay Utterly

Much like the previous two albums I listened to of theirs, a solid performance with admirable musicianship, but there's nothing I find particularly memorable or generally interesting. It's definitely leaning more towards tech-death than melodeath as there's very few actual melodic moments, I also hear a lot of deathcore elements included too, particularly from the vocal style and breakdowns.

The Black Dahlia Murder meets Shadow of Intent! To me, the musicianship is remarquable. The transition between the first and second tracks is descriptive of the whole album. They finish with an elaborate intense tech. death passage and it's followed by a classical guitar intro. The vocal feels very natural and the clean sections are also pretty good. The production is very well done. Each element has its space. Very impressed by this album.

It has good production with many deathcore elements, but it lacks originality.
