Progressive Metal | U.S. Power Metal

Without Jon Drenning but with a new vocalist who sounds like the second coming of Midnight, while still maintaining his uniqueness, the legendary Crimson Glory are back in studio discography after 27 freaking years. The album captures the essence and vibe of the band’s first two releases while expanding their sound to more progressive territory. Fascinating guitar melodies and choruses that are destined to stay imprinted on every listener’s brain forever can be found in every track, but it’s the triple attack of “Broken Together”, “Angel In My Nightmare”, and “Indelible Ashes” that make Chasing The Hydra the album that everyone expected after Transcendence. So, it’s finally here; better late than never.

I think this album is a worthy addition to Crimson Glory's career. The 27-year wait for an album has been worth it. The record isn't cloying; it has good heavy metal with well-thought-out riffs, and best of all, the songs evolve and progress. I find it very enjoyable, and I'm glad that a band with such a long history is releasing a good album these days.

As a huge fan of the first two albums I'm very much enjoying this. New vocalist sounds very good and there are some real bangers here.

Nice album indeed. Reminds so much the essence of the ones recorded with Midnight. Travis is a really competent vocalist (without being forced to be Midnight 2.0 or smth).

I hope this will be the start of a new good era for this band, not being forced to stay on par with their legendary albums, but being what they wish to be actually. That's how the art will flow in a nice way (simmilar at the actual Queensrÿche era with Todd).

Solid effort, better than I expected. In the middle there are some really decent songs with Beyond The Unknown being my favourite.

As people above me say, it's better than expected; actually, for me, a lot better than expected. Shame for the eye-hurting cover art, though.

It took me a few spins to get into it. This is a really solid album, matching the first 2 in terms of style. Rated 8+ for sure.
