Haha, that is freaking funny. Sure it may have been done a little bit in ill taste, but the jist of it is funny as hell.

Also, for the metal retardation!

This would have done it for me if the writing was done properly, in some old english script, or curly gothic script.

Also if, for some reason, only the O from the Opeth logo was on the cover.

The writing and script would add to the seriousness and the subtlety of Opeth, and would just add that much more to the piss-take.

Because he hasn't taken it to that next level of credibility, I don't find it that funny - kinda lame. If you're gonna make fun of something that's usually done seriously, then do it properly - make it reeeaaalllly authentic and serious, but keep the same stupid picture.
