Following up on their 1994 release, the embarrassingly novice album H418ov21.C, Beherit returned once more with sinister ambiance; Electric Doom Synthesis. However, don't expect any amateurish synth work this time around as Beherit has pulled out all of the stops to create a dark, gritty atmospheric album. The music on Electric Doom Synthesis is, in all honesty, nothing too exceptional. While fairly original, each song is nothing more than a few droning synth lines, hi hat abuse, bass, and the occasional sharp metal riff. But, combined, each song, and the album as a whole, can entrance the listener to a despair filled, crime ridden state of mind. If Ulver's Perdition City brings to mind the jazz fueled gangster ridden cities of the 20's and 30's, then Beherit's Electric Doom Synthesis is the musical form of Paul Verhoeven's Robocop. Rather than an intelligent, hip underworld, Electric Doom Synthesis is a bleak, PCP fueled schizophrenia. There is no modern cityscape to be found here, only the criminal-inhabited ruined infrastructure of what could perhaps once be called civilization. Read more ›› |

I was checking for ambient stuff made by metal bands, and remembered beherit had two of them. This one is impressive, very minimal but mesmerizing atmosphere... "Dead Inside" is overwhelming... definitely gonna buy this ! On the other hand, I'm not really convinced by H418ov21.C

I actually really like this, it's what Beherit should sound like. I'd give it around an 8 if I decided to keep ratings

We need more music like this. Electronic music is way too tame and bm is not ecstatic enough.

I'm so glad I finally got this album and the previous one in my collection. H418ov21.C was immature and needed further development. This is the real deal. Almost 30 years and it really does hit the right notes for me. It doesn't feel that old. Gritty af. "Dead Inside" is such a tune but "Deep Night 23rd" is also excellent in all its foreboding darkness. The whole album in general is dripping with atmosphere. Man this really might be my favorite Beherit album after all. Gonna need to give Drawing Down The Moon a new listening before deciding though. I jut love how I got sucked into the vibe so quickly.
