Benighted is born in 1998 after the meeting of some musicians of the bands Darkness Fire, Osgiliath and Dishumanized. Benighted is a band of "Brutal Death Metal", no doubt on that it's very easy when you push play on your stereo to see in like 3 second that you have here something well? very aggressive? "Insane Cephalic Prod" is the 3rd album of that French band through Adipocere Record ]. For sure the Extreme metal lovers will enjoy that album of pure violence that, however; don't forget, melodic and technical music.

Even when they sound like they are just messing around, i.e. in "Bestial Breeding" after the solo at 2:15 and a little further and the beautiful singing at 2:20 -> in "Self-Proclaimed God", the package still holds itself together. They got some good melodies and brutal riffs, drummer is like a machine and vocalists make me laugh my ass off. This is just awesome.

Has anyone heard both versions of this album? I bought the original a few years ago, but unfortunately I don't have the means to listen to the re-release atm.

I remember the re-release sounding more polished. Not in a "stripped of its strength/pussified" kind of polished, but it's definitely slicker. Again it's only from what I remember, but I don't think the songs are drastically different in any way.

Yeah the production is akin to Identisick/Icon thereabouts. Doesn't detract at all from the experience and you get two awesome bonus tracks too (both of which own the new album).

Damn, guess that means I have to buy that version as well. I have quite a few albums in my collection that are original and re-released

I really respect this album as it set course for the awesomeness of the following three albums, but in itself it's not very memorable. And a bit to haphazard perhaps.

The last three songs (excluding the bonuses) are godly though.

Not a bad release, although the production isn't that great, the songwriting is ok and the riffs are groovy but nothing that remarkable. They certainly improved on with their next release.
