Absolutely !

Impressive debut from Metal Church. I´m not confidenced with the last four tracks, though. Could have been a higher rating then.

Decent little album indeed. I think they got better on the next two.

I liked to see you using the word "Little" here as this album is really no Big deal, it's overrated. Their second album is slightly better.

A good album, don't get me wrong, but this one prevails over it.

The Dark is good but doesn't come near the quality of this one. It is for a reason this one is considered quite a classic by many a person.

I like The Dark better, shoot me. This is still a good album though.

This is a good album, a small classic and the next one is of similar quality but starting with "Blessing in Disguise" they're getting progressively better with each album until culminating with excellent "Hanging in the Balance".

Strong album. Songs like "Gods Of Wrath" and "Battalions" especially are what makes heavy metal worthwhile of listening even after these 3 decades.

The American answer to Iron Maiden. Catchy as hell and truly deserving of the classic tag, better than anything Iron Maiden ever put out.

I got this when it first came out on a whim. Waaay back in the day it wasn't easy to find out information about a band so you had to "roll the dice" when buying something you have no knowledge of. I can't tell you how many records I bought just because the album cover looked wicked. I had several purchases that turned out to be total Duds. Not this one!! Incredible from start to finish! Metal Church's best release hands down!

Classic metal album, plain and simple. Metal Church is one of those bands who have always managed to make more or less killer stuff without sacrificing their own personality in the process. This and Blessing in Disguise are the best in my opinion.

This album is an absolute classic! they don't get as much praise as the big 4, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax or Slayer, but this debut album is right up there with the best of them.

The problem is there were so many great American thrash acts around at that time Metal Church, Testament, Exodus, Overkill etc, they didn't get the same attention, yet they were just as good.

What I like most about this album is it is 50% thrash and heavy metal, it sounds somthing between WASP and Testament, two bands I greatly admire.

Do you ever listen to an album or a song and find yourself laughing out loud because your brain can't keep up with how much awesomeness is flowing through your ears?
Yeah, well, that's what's happening to me when I listen to this album - it's unexpectedly, incomprehensibly fantastic!

Probably because they were never really a thrash band. For me they fall somewhere between heavy, speed and thrash metal.

What's undeniable though, is how bangin' this album is!

Just remember folks, there's no point arguing Metal Church vs The Dark. They're both fucking stellar. I just prefer this one.

Damn I like this album! I feel that title track easily can be one of my favorite heavy metal song. Second half sounds little weaker for me, but still really fun stuff.

Faster tracks works best for me here, such as: "Battalions", "Hitman" and very impressive instrumental "Merciless Onslaught"! 8.5/10

My second favorite MC record. Kick ass combination of Heavy and Thrash! The vocals are great. Nearly no fillers here.

Faves: Beyond The Black, Metal Church, Gods Of Wrath and In The Blood
