Best song on Altars of Madness?

For me Morbid Angel's Altars Of Madness is the definitive death metal album. I'm interested in what song you prefer on the album. For me Immortal Rites is the definitive death metal song. It has a really scary riff.

Word of advice: Open "Mayhem vs Marduk" next.

That's true, but that's one of the best on the album

Killer album!
I think I'm gonna go with Maze Of Torment though, in death metal Morbid Angel seem to be the masters of coming up with catchy intros and memorable riffs, that song is arguably the best example of those things on the record.

Apparently he's right. The original Earache vinyl version only featured 9 songs. Side A had the first four, Side B had the last five.

For me it's either between Maze of Torment or Chapel of Ghouls.

I'm not surprised those three songs got most votes, although only "Immortal Rites" of those three are among my favourites on the album.

That is my second favourite on the album.

( I like chapel of ghouls, blasphemy, evil spells and immortal rites the most I guess.... (hard to say though) I chose Evil Spells in the end

I'll go with Immortal Rites but it's a damn difficult choice.
Like said above: there are only fantastic songs on this album and all songs are good enough to be the best song on almost any death metal album.

Hard one. I also went with Immortal Rites cause of it's demented riffage. Coming in at very close number 2 are Maze Of Torment and Chapel of Ghouls.
