Is tasty. First good death metal (non black) I have heard so far this year.

As someone who can actually read Arabic I find slightly annoying to spend thirty seconds trying to read that "word" from the wrong side just to find out the "designer" wanted to look cool. That person should have spent more time on those ugly photoshop 101 blood stains than finding out what Arabic letter could better pass as another Latin letter.

I just noticed that the latest artwork of Sir Richard Bishop looks quite similar. Same concept.
^ Damn, why do I think about Ilham while listening?

^I'll try not to make a sex joke out of that song title . Funny thing is that I was born in Tangier precisely.
The only other example in metal I can think of that uses that concept is Bast's Spectres. But otherwise, I've seen used in many different occasions around here since much of our culture borrows from the French, and it only reminds me of highschool rock bands flyers.

This is good, but still very much blackened death. The Monolith Deathcult is more traditional death metal which I haven't really heard much of so far that caught my attention.

There's nothing "black" about it if you ask me. Simply OSDM with a hint of prog.

You speak nonsense. There is plenty of black in there. Regardless, it's all good.

No one said Taake. Guessing this is a jab at my Volahn review. Warranted.

Totally agreed, OSDM with a tiny hint of prog and some thrash, but no black.

Yeah sorry, it was a lame joke referencing the Volahn review all meant in good spirits!
Slightly less off-topic: been a while since I listened to the Chapel of Disease album, but I'm sure I remember one of the songs having notable black elements to it, and I think Joe, that album's biggest champion, agreed. Don't remember it having plenty of black, but then again it's been a while.
Actually on-topic: this album's okay; does seem to have a bit more of a focus on the death metal side than a fair number of the symphonic death metal albums released in the past few years, which is something in its favour, but doesn't quite inspire me to want to listen to it again.

Yeah, it's not earth-shattering or even end-of-year topper stuff, but it's fun and pretty focused.

Definitely sounds more death metal than most of their most recent album...thankfully. A nice step back towards their 2008 masterpiece.
