Xandria - Cancel U.S. Tour, Stand-In Singer On European Shows

Shortly after announcing an upcoming U.S. tour, symphonic group Xandria now unfortunately had to cancel that tour which was going to happen in October/November as well as two shows in Russia. Singer Dianne Van Giersbergen won't be able to perform with the band and so they decided to cancel. However, on their European shows, singer Aeva Maurelle (Aeverium) will step in for their dates in November and December.

Xandria released this statement: "Dear all, some bad and some good news, folks: Starting with the bad news first: It comes with grief and sadness that our singer Dianne cannot perform with us for the time being. Sometimes these things are beyond your own power and there is a life offside the stages of the world which requires appropriate attention, so please bear with us.

"This unfortunately also means that we have to cancel the upcoming Russia shows in Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as the following US tour in the end of September and October. We are already working on new dates for these stretches, yet can't determine an exact time window by now already. Please stay alerted for ticket-return info in here and where you purchased your tickets. As for short term solutions: Our dear friend Aeva Maurelle of our buddies from alternative metal band Aeverium will step in to rock with us the European dates in November and December. Please welcome Aeva with a warm applause. We will make these shows nights to remember for you all! Ticketlink: http://xandria.merchcowboy.com/tickets. Can't wait to see you out there! Yours, Xandria.

It seems there is was a lot of background fuss within Xandria; Dianne just announced that the band virutally forced her out of the band due to her health issues and not being able to drive Xandria forward as much as they wanted. Appearantly, they got Aeva as a replacement without even consulting with or letting Dianne know, and kicked Dianne out of the band's social media accounts. This is yet another fracture in the Symphonic Metal genre, which had already been dying for years now. I'm humbled I got to interview Dianne a few years back, and got to see her play with Xandria at one event.

Xandria is an OK band within their genre, but I never felt they were outstanding. Of course the singer merry-go-round hasn't helped.

Call me curious, but I think there is an asshole within the band that is kinda pulling the ropes in regards to the singer thingy. This is the 3rd singer replacement within 5 years, within 3 albums. I'm waiting to hear more from the band, although hearing from Dianne that she is kicked out while the band claims they only took a live singer is kinda weird. Surely someone is in denial (Dianne) or there are some assholes that cannot stand the sight of a band member falling ill. This episode reminds me of Nightwish when they kicked Anette.

It's simple really, I once read somewhere that since Marco is the heart of Xandria, he chooses the singers. I once even heard a conspiracy that he dates every singer they have - which would be a conspiracy by itself to why a singer is changed every 3 years. Symphnic Metal is full of assholes, but I hardly think Dianne is in denial considering the circumstances. Also, I wouldn't rush to blame Nightwish for the situation surrounding Anette's depart.

Its not only about Anette's departure, but the way they also treated Tarja is questionable. Ok, once can pass, but a second time as well? Furthermore, I never saw bands making their singers travel in a different van, have a separate management, etc. Clearly something was amiss there, and I doubt it was Anette. The Nightwish guys, particularly Tuomas are good at shoving the dirt under the carpet. That I have to admit.

In regards to Xandria, there is a reason why Lisa left, pretty much giving up her musical career. Manuela did not go into details why she chose to leave either. Kerstin Bischof barely stood 1 year in the band. So yeah, I guess that Marco might be the culprit, probably together with the upper management of the band.
