John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne - the legendary Black Sabbath frontman and icon of British heavy metal - has died earlier today, July 22nd 2025, at the age of 76, after years of battling Parkinson's disease.

Statement from the family: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.
Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis"

On July 5th 2025, Osbourne performed his final show at the Back to the Beginning concert event amid ongoing health battles, having announced earlier in the year that this would be his last live performance, though he intended to continue recording music.

Got to say, even though we all saw it coming in some way, this news still hits like a truck.

RIP you absolute legend, and thank you for all the incredible music and moments you've given us metal fans!

Heard about this half an hour before bedtime. Now I don't feel like sleeping. When I wake up tomorrow, the world won't be the same anymore.

RIP Ozzy and thank you for everything!

I’m as shocked as anyone and I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but I just have to share this because I’m pretty sure even Ozzy himself would have smiled at it.

Earlier this evening I ran into my neighbor in the parking lot. He listens almost exclusively to hard rock and classic heavy metal (Metallica, Maiden, etc.) and I really like him. He's a nice guy. I casually mentioned that the Prince Of Darkness had passed away today. He was visibly shaken and said he’d spend the whole night listening to his greatest records in tribute.

For the past three hours, the entire street has been blasted with Billion Dollar Babies, Trash, and Hey Stoopid.

There's surely something in the air tonight as we're all blasting across the globe our favourites from Sabbath and Ozzy, because I can't sleep at all. Its hard to turn this page somehow. The book was simply one of, if not the best.

What he achieved in his life with his fellas from Birmingham is nothing short of incredible and it will leave a permanent mark on our musical landscape. You will live on through every moments spent listening to your amazing legacy. Thank you for all you've given us, truly. You were a pioneer, you were an icon, you were a madman, you were a prince in the darkness but mostly you are a true fucking legend.

Rest in peace Ozzy and I know your electric funeral will shake the world.

He was the greatest musician alive today. The best lyricist, the most colourful character (to this day).

Not only did a musician pass away, but he was also a creator of experiences and a transformer of lives. He lived as he wished, and we celebrate his life for it. Un grande Ozzy.

Call it fate or whatever, but I was playing Master of Reality in the car on the way home tonight. I hadn't heard the news because I'd been away from the socials for an hour or two. My wife told me, and I couldn't believe it.

Rest in peace Oz.

The whole crew on my production got the news at the same time.

Every work truck at lunch was blasting Ozzy/Black Sabbath.

My dad used to bump Ozzy all the time and he was the first metal musician I ever listened to. No More Tears helped get me through high school and some really tough times in my life.

RIP Ozzy and thank you for everything you've done, not only for my favorite music genre, but also for the people that you helped get through the dark times.

Truly a sad day for metal.

I think there's an extra layer of funny in that Ozzy himself guests on the title-track of Hey Stoopid.

Everyone before me said it all. Black Sabbath is the reason that we are all here on this website, and Ozzy was one of the original four. No one can take that away from him.

I was browsing the socials on my phone when I saw it, and I was looking at the news titles in disbelief when my phone rang; my ringtone is "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath". I had only changed it a few weeks ago. Going to keep it for a while now.

It is a miracle that he lived this long, and we are lucky that we are alive to experience his music. It's also a miracle that he managed to perform one last time just before he died. I think he chose his death, too, but that's just my suspicion and it is not important. His autobiography is one of my favourite books, and I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't read it.

I don't believe in life after death, but I cannot help feeling some sort of consolation when I think that he may get to meet with Randy again.

I came very close to seeing Sabbath live but couldn't. Ah well, that's life. I don't know what to say to this news. On the one hand it's expected, on the other, it hits hard and feels like the end of an era.
