The last update was great news for the band, two albums in six months of the Something Wicked Trilogy!

If I am correct, you're talking about The Glorious Burden and on right? If so, IMO the guy sounds too much like Bruce Dickinson [get off my ass].

As for Iced Earth...I believe 'The Phantom Opera Ghost' is one of the finest examples of musicianship I've ever heard! They used like 3 different guitars EACH in that song alone...and the drums are amazing. A true epic of a song.

Yeah they lost a bit of their uniqueness when Tim got in. Matt had just an awesome voice that was unique. With Tim, I think they sound too much like a lot of other stuff and only some of the songwriting saves the band. I mean, the gettysburg trilogy has great moments but the rest of the album seems to be some stuff that has been done time and time before.

I aggree on Phantom of the Opera. One of the finest track from Horrorshow (wich is, for me, their best effort). Wolf is such a great opener too.

My favs from the band goes in this order:

Dark Saga
Something Wicked Comes this Way
Horror Show
Burned Offerings
Glorious Burden
The Night Of The Stormrider
Iced Earth

Other than Iced Earth the album,I think their albums are classic.

And Matt gotta be my fav singer, but I think Tim did a great job on GB and I hope he is on both the next albums their gonna release soon wich Im really looking forward too.

Am I the only person on the planet who enjoys the song "Blessed Are You"? My favorite of theirs, yet no one else seems to notice this song.

I don't know what happened to Iced Earth with "The Glorious Burden", that shit is awful... I don't really care about its themes, I'm not pissed off by that but is a damn bad album...

I hate Tom Owen vocals, his affected pseudo-emotional scream... that album is an eternal whining, a totally gay whining, and musically is not much more than Iron Maiden rip-off... I can't understaond how Schafer could write such a shitty ballad as "When The Eagle Cries"... COME ONE!, it's incredible by the same man who composed master ballads like "The Melancholy", "I Died For You" and "A Question Of Heaven"...

And well, I will not mess a lot with the lyrics but they suck, not for what they are but because they're BAD nationalist lyrics... the whole album sounds like an officialist republican anthem, fullfillled by the typical cheap clichés... that's good for country music, but not for the band that had written the greatest Heavy Metal lyrics before!

The style of Jon playin' with his agressive riffs and the barlows voice are awesome, they are my second favorite band in all metal genres,i emember when i was learning to play riffs, then appear this iced arth album (the first one), and i tries to play the When tha night falls song, really dificult. But the true is that is a band with many changes since their beginning, the best line-up i think was with matt, that i heard he's gonna back to the band, owens was only for the Glorius burden album (a masterpiece, even when i am not US american).

"Dark Saga" is one my favorite Metal albums ever. A perfect piece of Metal. I'm also a huge fan of the SPAWN comics, so that's one of the reasons why I love this album so much.

But since Tim Owens joined Iced Earth they became some more than music.. The glorious burden is too patriotic to be just music... For example.. Do u believe that "When the eagle cries" song, is written just for the melody?? Unexceptionably not...

No, it's not written just for the melody I suppose, but from what I hear Jon is a patriotic guy. I don't think there is really anything wrong with having pride in one's country. I'm not exactly proud to be American, but I believe we can change for the better. Kind of hard to do at the moment though because of all the foolish things we are pursuing.

For me Iced Earth didn't exist after the Alive in Athens cd. Horrorshow was -for me- missing inspiration. And after Barlow left and Tim became a band member I never listened to them again because their last alboum sucks. Also, I think that Schaffer is a really idiot person who cares only for himself and no-one else. He must change the vocalist and try to approach Barlow once more. Or even find someone with a deep voice. Not like Tim Ripper Owens. I 'll throw up...:mad7:

I started listening Iced Earth when I got into metal, but few stuff, I just got "Days of Purgatory" and several songs of some other cds, and I really like them but didn't look forward to them completly, then this year has become one of my favourite bands, one day I decided to get more stuff and wohooo XD extremly cool. It's a shame that Barlow left, he's not specially good, but he just have a feeling that few vocalists have. Tim maybe is better but it's just a common one... he fits much better in Judas Priest than Iced Earth, he's kinda misplaced though... Anyway according to the number of line-ups I think this is becoming somewhat like a Jon Schaffer personal proyect... and that's bad indeed

May I just say, Iced Earth was the reason I started listening to metal. I listened to the song "The Hunter" and that was were it started.

I love Iced Earth. Just to get that point crossed.

I don't know why people dislike "Night Of The Stormrider" and "Burned Offerings" so much. They have some of the best damn riffs and were most 'Thrash' sounding on those albums.

"Somthing Wicked This Way Comes" I wasn't that impressed by, other then "Travel in Stygian".

"Horror Show" had some nice songs "Wolf" I was really impressed with.

"Dark Saga" I havent had a chance to really listen too other then "The Hunter" so I can't comment there.

"Glorious Burden" while I dislike Tim, I think he did a decent job with "Atilla",
"The Reckoning" and "Red Baron". The only one I found out of place was "Green Face". Overall I enjoyed it, despite the cheap lyrics. However, it made me realize how much Iced Earth seems to change too.

i dont understand how people can hear red baron more than once. i heard it three times in a row and almost became deff. when the "ripper" starts ripping, by god he ripps. holy shit.

glorious burden was a good idea gone extremely bad.

it is just a normal thing for good bands to go bad after a while. just hope they would come back on the seth wagon with extreme force.

I completelly agree with you. Tim Owens fits much better in Judas Priest than Iced Earth. Barlow got the band to the top with his feeling. Such feeling in these songs... Made me love them.
