Kind of funny that this thread is 22 pages of people "despising" genres, and when someone mentions a metal genre there's a huge debacle about how someone not liking it doesn't make it bad etc.

Well about djent I think it is more to it being very unfairly bashed, just like metalcore. I find it really stupendous how people are all like "lulz they rip meshuggah off and they all sound the same lulz". Even though most djent bands probably take more from SikTh and Fellsilent than Meshuggah and also the same could be said of pretty much any other genre. Still nobody is slagging thrash bands for being Metallica ripoffs that all sound the same, even though thrash was pretty much started by Metallica and there is very little variation of sound. Still so far the only djent band I heard that really sounds a lot like Meshuggah is Vildhjarta and I did listen to lots of djent. Plus Vildhjarta absolutely have their own sound and imo they also school Meshuggah in their own genre quite hard.

I don't like it like what's cynic said, and because I don't like it I think there is something wrong with it too, it's really a boring genre with rare variation in its sound ,depending too much on rhythms and not caring for use of melodies and note make its sound really limited IN MY OPINION , totally this kind of music is not my cup of tea
They tend to use more melodies than Meshuggah did actually. Won't argue with it being based on rhythm though, but I like that, massive polyrhythmic chug patterns make me wet.

Listening to "Eve" by Ufomammut right now, actually. It's highly regarded, you should check it out if you haven't already.
If you want something particularly depressive, try Cough.
But honestly, how can one hate stoner doom? What blasphemy. What idiocy. Sleep and Electric Wizard are enough to make you bow.

In terms of metal I must agree with those who don't like djent. It just sounds so overproduced and articifial to me, plus it's just ripping off a device used by Meshuggah imo, which itself has its limits. Uneven Structure are the only one I can stand.
The soul-destroying, hypnotising money spinners we call modern dance-pop irritate me to no end. And I have never liked a singer-songwriter type configuration either, you know those men with stubble and cigarette stained, collar length hair sitting in the afternoon sun with an acoustic guitar singing with a forced high voice about the surf or something...

Honest to god, space metal.
In fact, there is nothing remotely even exist to space metal.
You can have space-themed *insert genre* music but I don't think space metal is any genre.

So you hate a genre you don't think exists. Makes sense.

I think it shouldn't exist because it doesn't make sense at all. Well, space metal is illegitimate genre span across to many metal listeners and it's booming too. I even saw some of the recs here related to space metal.

Rod doesn't like rap/hip hop yet likes Kanye West. He despises emo too but stands bearable with Doom as it exemplifies too many emotions and feelings.
I hope he supported Kanye when was running for potus.

Hahahahahahaha you evil motherfucker. What are you doing digging up shit from almost 20 years ago.
That comment is literally one day after I joined the site. Damn, I feel old. I also overused the ... thing way too much back then.
Excuuuuuuuuuse me, Radu. I was just 15 and just started moving from power/symphonic metal (yeah) to extreme metal. My tastes have fortunately branched out a lot since then. That does include hip-hop and emo hehe. I still loathe reggeaton though.
Btw keep in mind that this was Dec 2007. Graduation was released only a few months before and tracks like "Stronger" went hard af. Funnily enough, I never cared much for anything else Kanye did since.

Only worth lies in that glorious catchphrase I even use in real life despite no one knowing where it comes from.

Honestly, I never even knew there was a Zelda tv show. And by the looks of it, it is not something worth watching
Nintendo allowed a few of their games to get cartoons in the late 80s, it's really interesting considering how conservative they'd later get with their IPs. Both mario cartoons they made at the time are really bad, but the Zelda one is probably the worst.
The most interesting thing they'd do with one of their IPs is probably the Donkey Kong TV show from the late 90s, which wasn't particularly good either but had some extremely weird segments, like this incredibly surreal song:
Or this masterpiece of hip-hop music (Kanye West got nothing on this):
This cartoon is better remembered in France because our version of those songs are somehow even funnier, and also because a french kid's program called "DKTV" which used the 3d models from the cartoon interacting with the real life TV presenter. It was really weird, lasted longer than it should have and they probably weren't even legally allowed to do this, but it has a real legacy in french memes and old school youtube poop stuff.
Anyway, back on topic after this very long tangent, reggae is the only music genre that actively annoys me, even the supposed best stuff the genre has to offer sounds really bad to me

Never!
I remember that "Nobody's Hero" from a Dunkey video, but that rap truly caught me by surprise
Also, that Zelda show probably was made around the same time as the original Voltron, which I don't know anything about except this compilation:

I absolutely loathe this kind of insufferable modern Finnish synth pop they play on radio everyday, the kind of music with zero effort put into them: crappy melodies, extremely basic chord progressions, childish musicianship, every single one of them sounds exactly the same and the empty and soulless lyrics are more of an after though, usually something about romance or partying. In Finland some people call this "pop-iskelmä", the latter being kind of popular sing-a-long music for mostly elderly people.
I love a lot of pop music, I listen to it everyday. I have even learned to enjoy rap and hip hop, but this specific kind of music makes me feel like dying slowly.

The funniest part about this rap segment is that it starts completely out of nowhere, they had no reason to be singing that whole segment, it's very out of place and I love it

As a musician it's hard to not want to play the very technical licks you hear in jazz and progressive/technical music. I think it's unfair to say they "SUCK" and I believe musicians should still practice it. However, I agree with you it's not as groovy and enjoyable to listen to. Additionally, performing it feels more like I'm memorizing and regurgitating math equations rather than feeling the music.

Pfff, wow. When I read the premise of this thread, I immediately felt the urge to jump in and say: “Peace, dude. It’s all subjective — why the need for this hate?”
I’m here to celebrate music, not to spread hate about it or about its fans.
