Ah yes, Pennywise is a very kick ass-tastic band. I like alot of the early epitaph bands, you know, before they became a shit label. The Offspring, Pennywise, Drop Kick Murpheys, NOFX, Bad Religion, all great.

Huge fan. Just bought "Back In The USA" about an hour ago. I still need to get "High Time". Its hard to find anything other than Kick Out The Jams on CD in my city.

Yeah, I was just in the "Last Albums You Acquired" thread and saw that you had bought an album of theirs. I don't own any material, but I'd pick up their debut if I ever saw it at a local shop.

Yeah, Kick Out The Jams is heavy, and raw. Unfortunately some of the songs sound as if they were all on ton of LSD while playing.....which is probably not unlikely.

But it seems that it's not ever a bad thing either. Must be something to this drug. I guess Timothy Leary was right.

You should move house. Living under a rock isn't very comfortable.
Black Flag are classics man, even grungers know that since Kurt was a huge fan. They're from back in the day. Anti-Flag are socio-political but strangely not very raw, they're like punk-pop....but not pop-punk! They're not fvcking Stink 182 or Lit, but they're stuff is hookier and cleaner in the vocals than bands like Gallows.
I always have time for Gallows. They're British. Led by a psycho red-headed tatted-neck chap who is part of that "fvck-it-all-I'm-gonna-yell-about-some-hard-hitting-stuff-and-everyone-else-is-gonna-bloody-well-do-the-same-thing" school of thought.
Musically they're kinda like a more hardcore mixture of the two styles exhibited by Black Flag and Anti-Flag. The hooks are there. The attitude is there. The fvcking britishness is there, the commentary is there. It's hard to fault Black Flag, but for relevance, patriotism and [being into metal more] all around punch-in-the-face power, I prefer Gallows by just a little bit.
Just to clarify, they're not fresh faced baggy short wearing grunters straight off the banana boat. They've been around a fair while and are known in the punk and hardcore scene quite well. They're just new compared to the big BF as well as the fact remaining that Orchestra Of Wolves is their Isa by Enslaved in the sense that it gained instant critical acclaim, at a time when they were starting to become less relevant, at a time when other bands were catching them up, at a time when the record labels would have presumed that the best of the band had already been produced and after the band had already released a fair few classics, thank you very much.
Anti-Flag released a new album recently. I've only got a couple. One on CD and one on Vinyl - they have about 4 or 5 albums out so I'm not a huge authority on them - all I can say is that if you like good, catchy, honest and above all socialist/political left-wing punk, Anti-Flag are your guys! They're Yanks but sing with English accents. That's the fakest thing about them though, and they pull it off well! Despite their tunefulness most die-hard punkers still consider them to have a lot of merit, so you don't have to worry about listening to sugar-pop sell-out crap or anything like that. They're well respected.
But to give you an idea of the difference, the guys from Gallows probably don't listen to Anti-Flag but that's more of a hardcore thing then a commercially-related grievance.

if you want some full-on heavy straight-edge madness, as stigma77 said, check out Earth Crisis. In Fact you should just check his list out, he's got it sorted.
Anyway, back to Earth Crisis: These guys know how to rip apart a drum-set! They absolutely fvcking shred. They're like Stampin' Ground for vegan conservationists! [Everyone better take that as a joke, I don't want people giving me lectures on substance abuse and the plight of musicians who spend more time harbouring pent up energy than they do playing.] Jokes aside, it's a commendable movement.

Well, while I like Lagwagon and everything, they're just like another version of NOFX.
