U?kumgallu - Rotten Limbs In Dreams Of Blood

Great bm from the guys behind Ash Borer. Kinda like Skaphe but without the pyschedelic-y sound and riffing.

Zofos - Erevothen

Troy is gone, can we make lists again?
Maco introduced me to this. Good atmosphere and bl, mournful flowing melodies and archaic primordial chaos in music in a Hellenic nature.
But that picture in ma sickness me.
Well there are tons and more good bands in a genre what are not idilogicsl morons and shows it in public whit idiotoc pose pictures. One listen deal. It's it.

Yesterday I listened to Incantation's last album, which is great. I was also listening to a lot of Baest (now that was a band I enjoyed seeing live!). I love their new tracks, Necro Sapiens is a catchy tune. I also listened to Venenum and Dance Macabre. I think they have gotten better with time. I also listened to some Cradle of Filth. Dusk and Her Embrace was one of my first CD albums I owned, and I still enjoy it. Cruelty & the Beast is an awesome album. Twisted Nails of Faith is one of my all time favourite tracks. I also listened to Nymphetamine, which I remember not giving a fair shot as the single was a bit too cheesy for me at the time, but it's a good album. I also listened to the new cannibal Corpse track a lot, I love it!

Today I listened to Eternal Champion while out running, I think Ravening Iron is a great album. I have been listening to some Tombs. All Empires Fall is OK, but I really enjoy Monarchy of Shadows and Under Sullen Skies. I'm thinking about watching their livestream on Bandcamp tomorrow, I think it will be a good Friday night (UK time) as far as Friday nights go in lockdown. I also listened to Arcturus Sideshow Symphonies, which is an album I love. ICS Vortex is one of my favourite vocalists, and some of these songs are all time favourites. At the end of the day I listened to a bunch of my favourite Onslaught tracks, and some other death and thrash songs I like.

Haven't properly listened to these guys until now.
This was some good raw sounding black metal with some super sick riffs.

I've been listening to more aggressive music in the last week, but if you take a month, it comes out to this list of albums:
Slipknot:
- Slipknot (1999)
- Iowa (2001)
- Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses (The Best Album) (2004)
- All Hope Is Gone (2008)
- .5: The Gray Chapter (2014)
- We Are Not Your Kind (2019)
(Basically, the whole Slipknot studio discography)
What else:
- Lamb Of God (Lamb Of God)
- Become THe Hunter (Suicide Silence)
- The Mortal Coil (Polaris)
- Too Mean To Die (Accept)
- TRAUMA (I Prevail)

Almost all the songs on these albums are to my liking. Especially Slipknot, I think it's one of the best bands.

Now playing: BLACK BLEEDING - Worship Demo 2003

Here is an ooold release of the belgian/ french band… The style was globally the same than on later releases, between death and black metal with some ferocious moments, perhaps with a bit more of “old brutal death” influences, and you can feel their style was less ”refined”, but good energy and some cool ideas.

I'm a little bit toasted right now (which was definitely the intention while listening to this, lol), I would think that based on the style and themes, that getting stoned before listening to it would be encouraged.

So, right off the bat, what stands out to me the most is, the unorthodox approach to the instrumentation. Om are the only metal band I've ever heard of who don't use electric guitars! That's right, no guitars... instead they use a fuzzy bass guitar. Also, that exotic instrument used in both the opening track and the closing track...that's not a sitar, it's apparently a tambura.

Yeah, this record is groovy af

Tröjan - 1985 - Chasing The Storm

Rather unknown record that I have listened on a few different occasions on different eras of my life, and every time it has proven to be good. While the production sounds a little bit low budget the song material on the other hand is really great sounding, well written songs, somewhat akin to early Agent Steele albums. The opener/title song Chasing The Storm already is a genre classic, pure winning of its whole length. Hypnotized, Icehouse, Take No Prisoners and Agressor are other killer pieces. In total a classic record material, and it's probably safe to say that it's overlooked by many a metaller. Rates 9/10 from me.

Check this album out you guys or you won't have a clue what true metal of steel can be

Tröjan - 1985 - Chasing The Storm

Chasing the Storm is a legit banger! Everything about this thing kills, beginning from the hilarious cover art that has all the best metal cliches from bats and satan to gallows. And the band name "tröjan" means "sweater" in Swedish. It's the kind of stuff that shouldn't work at all musicwise and they probably weren't fully aware of what they were doing all the time, but they're pushing it so hard it actually kicks serious ass. This is what speed metal is all about.

They changed their name to Taliön and released another overlooked album, which is more thrash metal than speed.

Sacrifice - 1985 - On the Altar of Rock

Super melodic sounding metal from this one album band from Switzerland. Managing to play almost 40 minutes rather enjoyable material and also having a good amount of originality to their sound makes the album quite a success in my book. Rates 7,5/10.

Saints' Anger - 1985 - Danger Metal

Old school German heavy metal similar to Walls of Jericho, Gates to Purgatory, Accept. Real good stuff, I don't any have complaints about it. It just isn't quite one of the best albums, so 8/10. Killer bad ass record

Riddlemaster (Mark Shelton and Rick Fisher) - 2017 - Bring The Magik Down

Kind of going back to roots to old Manilla Road sound, where is Scott Scooter Park though? This is an unusual approach with a long song format and some weird instrumental part in the first song, pretty cool song, but not totally captivating. The second song has some nice classic Mark the Shark guitar melodies with the epic old man vocals, really good minimalistic type of song. The rest are worth hearing as well; Ghosts Of The Plains has some great epic feel to it with masterful vocals and Go For The Throat/Be The Wolf must be the most interesting piece here with some old school heavy psych rock sound. Good record and I regret to rate it so low, and maybe I will upgrade it later. 7/10

Ded Engine - 1988 - Hold A Grudge

Very British sounding heavy metal from USA. The band sounds good but the songs are mostly just alright and there are no hit songs but neither big misses. Works for a singular listen, I wouldn't spend more time on albums like these. 6/10

Cutty Sark - 1985 - Heroes

Another strong effort from these fine lads. What the band did with their two albums should be used as a prototype and repeated for how traditional old school heavy metal should be done. Strong record all the way, the title track is a real highlight moment; superb song with high potential for re-listens. Sold To Kill is another highlight song with some sweet sounding guitar playing. 8/10 record.

Stormbringer - 1983 - Stormbringer

Quite early Swiss heavy metal with heavy 80s mainstream rock/AOR influence. Not exactly a bad sound, however the commercial approach makes this record sound like too many other bands from this same time period, the ballad type of songs sound pretty filler, and the drum sound is the bad 80s kind. The songs overall aren't especially impressive; Lady of the Sky is rather good faster piece and Fight With Me is quite easily the best song with little bit similar sound to 80s Iron Maiden. Definitely not one of the best albums the world has even seen, but surely pretty interesting for ań unknown record. 6,5/10.

Neon Cross - 1988 - Neon Cross

Good heavy metal band and album. The band clearly didn't become big, which is understandable by releasing something like this in 1988 as a debut probably didn't sell much. Also when the material isn't quite the best what was being released in late 80s it could be easy to overlook the records, that nowadays get a 2nd chance with the internet and youtube. It's worth checking out if we don't mind some repetitiveness in songwriting. 7,5/10

Dark Age - 1984 - Dark Age (EP)

Super awesome, low budged production, true sounding heavy metal and us power from USA. Originally this was a six song release, I have some bonus material one that actually goes to a full length release territory with a total of 11 songs! Really competent material from a band that had basically just started an year ago and this was their only release. Keep an eye (ear) on the guitar melodies. I'd rate this "only" as high as 9/10 because, well, it's not Omen's Battle Cry. Check it out, brothers

Vault - 1983 - No More Escape

Another great record from these Dutch guys. It has heavy NWoBHM influence and if I didn't know where they're from I would assume them as an UK band. Whereas this isn't exactly best album ever, it does have some really nice guitar melodies and solos, already in the first song I can hear some Iron Maiden-esque melodies going on. My favorite here is the last song, Too Young to Fight, Overall rather enjoyable album, one of the more melodic and less heavy heavy metals. 8/10
