Black Metal vs Death Metal

vote for black metal. i prefer it because of its unique underground cult atmosphere which brings on my mind me some beloved dark images.. This genre also contains some of my favourite bands and i think its history is more impressing

Black metal is to simple, more image than music. Death is more pure!

Black Metal for me please. Death Metal is too extreme for my taste. Besides Black Metal image is cool. Of course I can't speak about either genre, being more a melodic metal fan. But still i enjoy a lot more some BM bands like Dimmu Borgir or Naglfar.

I voted death metal, becouse death metal simply kicks my ass harder than black metal.
And I like more death metal atmosphere, guitar riffs and singing.

I voted for Death metal for few reasons. Because I have started listen metal with this style and for the diversity of sub-genres in DM.
But it's hard to chose DM more than BM. BM have its universe, its particularity. And also I like it.

I start lsiten metal also whit DM, but im growing older and understand that BM are more closer to me not pure but wjit lil elements and good quality BM bands I like but death metal well only old school sound of early 90ties otherwise I cant lsietn it any more im to heavy, gothic, DOOM and black

I vote Death Metal because it's what i started out with and know and love.

black metal has it's own fans ... and usually they are in scandinavia territory ...
but when i see CHRIS BARNES, GLEN BENTON, and so on i vote for death metal :d

Death Metal. I'm not much of a BM fan, but I like a few from that sub-genre.

I voted for death too.I find it more complicated and closer to the meaning of real music.

but in USA are good BM band stoo like Judas Iscariot, Xastur, Krieg and many many mor eto mention, IMO in BM USA are so 'Europeaic' this is only genre there who ha sno diference from USA

In Eirope are good DM bands too look eraly Swe and Ger Band si love them its amzing

for technique, aggressiveness and badass lead guitarists I pick Death Metal. also the thrash influence is more notorious, jazz-fusion death took the gender to a different greater level musically.

Black Metal is pretty one dimensional in vocals and guitars almost like punk, but unlike punk the lyrics are almost poetic somtimes (In a satanic, viking kind of way)
And Death metal is a little less one dimensional with vocals, and guitars that just skullfuck you, but lyrically it's pretty repetetive "Blood Guts Gore!", with the exception of a few bands.
But over all I say Death.

Death Metal all the way. I do not listen (much) to black metal. It has nothing to offer for me. I like Death Metal because its faster and more aggresive in my eyes. I like the vocals of Death more and the way of drumming and guitar playing.

Black metal, it's more refined and has a better atmosphere and I find Death metal way to simple and old school death metal mostly dulls me to sleep...

whoa I can't believe what you just said, it almost sounds like a joke or insult...arcturus might make you go to sleep that's a fact (Sideshow Symphonies), first listen to technical death metal or bands with the jazz influence that no1 might ever make a cover out of their songs...cynic, atheist, to name a few.

not a big fan of either, but if i had to choose... id have to pick death... black metal (in my opinion) is just a smidge too trendy... everyone i know who likes black metal has just recently evolved into it, or maybe only for the last year or two, and now thinks nothing but black metal should be listened to, and everything else might as well be emo... sorry guys, but the black metalheads around here are posers... hell, black metal is whiney in itself... almost like an evolution of emo in the heavy metal industry...

I chose death metal. Though I must admit as far as pure genres go Im into black metal more, but Im into alot more bands that incorperate death metal into the style (IE: Turisas a folk metal band that occasionally uses death growls). I listen to more straight up Black Metal then I do straight up Death metal, but overall I listen to more metal with death growls in it.

That works both ways actually. Ive noticed just as many tr00 swedish old school death metallers as tr00 norweigan black metallers type thing. And about BM being simple? there is just as many simple DM bands as there is BM bands, each genre has its complex techinically proficient bands and its raw simplistic skilled bands.

well, not like that, but I can't listen to a whole album of old school death metal. I like the first 3 songs or so but then I start to get really bored. sideshow symphonies is indeed a dissapionting Arcturus album. the problem is with death metal I find it mostly "litte to rough at edge's" to say.

My vote goes to Black Metal. Somehow I enjoy Black Metal more than Death Metal, even though they are both my favorite Metal-subgenre's. Black Metal, for me, has a better atmosphere.

I voted for death metal. The vocals are more appealing and the technical guitars and drums are just awesome. I do love me some black metal tho. Gorgoroth in particular.

ok, i see what you're saying. sorry for the confusion. I really don't see Gorgoroth as DM tho. o well

They aren't DM, but they have a bit of a 'brutal' feel to them. And so does Death Metal. That's probably what he's meaning.
