I know but stull modern gothic are overated sorry flowing tears n withered flowers are AWSOME butflowing tears sucks, i love mid 90ties gothic

In that case we're not so different.
I don't like nowdays gothic.. it's a bit... "plastic"? kinda commercxial I guees and there are soooooooooo many "gothic" bands that sounds really happy... and that's not gothic.. LOL
Old gothic kick so much ass...
I think that the most recent gothic that I stand is Virgin Black and Lacrimosa [ I don't really know if I can label it to gothic... but what the hell...]

and I dont like gothic girls and gothic dress and so on, and music are likedont know women after sex operation, old gothic was good nodays nop

Im with u man.. For me the best gothic band WAS tristania because NOWdays they just go with the stream as many other ex-(real)gothic metal bands and im talking about Theatre of Tragedy(after Aegis), Sirenia (after an elixir for existence) and many more.
And ofcourse bands like epica, after forever, within temptation never where into gothic genre, they are more symphonic and unfortunately sometimes more pop than metal!

Finally, i will say one of the most legnedary and one of ny favourtie gothic bands, TSOTB luckily stopped very early their carreer and they didnt followed the stream like the others.

From all bands what you mentioned I can realy lsiten first album, ok TRsitania and ToN 2 albums but others firts are best others just crap,

I don't know TSOTB...
But I agree on the TOT part... they were one of the big ones on the gothic scene... the first 3 albums were just groudbreaking...

Of course Moonspell is the the best gothic metal band of all time and still they are improving album by album and night eternal with these towo sounds that they've put on myspace shows that this albums is going to be the best album of Moonspell imo.

two witches I know onl;y seven witches and its not gothic, its US power

well they arent really metal at all, totally gothic, but this is best gothic band so i suppose its acceptable . Look them up on you tube, i think there is only the angel of pain on there which isnt one of their better songs. Now vampire empire and bites and bloody kisses, there is a great gothic sound. its nothing on metal but its great in its own way.

tristania althought i havent listened to much stuff. basically old tristania because the newer one is commercial shit with girl on every album cover.

so if u think tiamat isnt gothic what do u think about Paradise Lost? they r famous cause of their old stuff not new popkind metal stuff yeah? so i meant that it was better to choose somthin better for poll. but yes their old suff was like death metal

Early ToN was gothic/doom metal there wasnt nothing connected whit operatic metal

True, but I was refering to Liv's voice, not the overall sound of the band

Liv nevere ewer has been soemthing special, never will be she is just simple woman who sings its all, only ToN makes her special its all, but Liv's Eyes ehhh its even not metal sometime,s but she's good poet

I like all of them quite much. Above all, After Forever, Tristania and Theatre of Tragedy. I voted for After Forever, since they have made every album quite different while attaching to their style. They sound so clean and it is appears so easy to make that difficult genre!. The first 3 albums of Theatre are some of my favourites, but I don,t like their change of style at all. -I prefer Portishead or Bjork when I want to listen not metal music- and Tristania are so perfect that they have made every song to sound quite similar.

My favorite gothic band has to be Type O Negative. All the way.

Is Lacuna Coil gothic? If so that's my vote!
