I can't believe nobody has started a Megadeth thread yet. Not only are they a well-known thrash band, but there's always been so much controversy around them because of the Mustaine-haters.

Have fun discussing.

I cant wait untill the next album that comes out this year! Dave Mustaine is my hero, I loved seeing the youtube videos of him ripping on people, Dave vs. Dipshit, Dave vs. the lazer, etc. He may not be my favorite singer but I think his voice fits his music pretty well. Hes one of my favorite guitarists.

Yeah actually me as well, Dave Mustain has had one of the heaviest impacts on my playing style, I would compare my rythyms the clostest to his.

I dont think you know really well Megadeth, cause two years ago, here in Greece, Dave would cancel the show if Rotting Christ was the support band, and that because Dave is Christian. Also, I dont think you are more than 15 years old by saying "thank satan"..

I also admitt that Dave is a really good guitar player.. His voice is not good, but fits well on his music as others said. Finally, I cannot unfortunatelly say that I liked that much their last alboum "the system has failed".. I really hope the new alboum is far greater...

I think the new album will be good, just listen Sleepwalker or Gears of War. Megadeth is coming to my home town on summer. Unfortunately I'm going to miss it, since I don't have enough money to go to that IMO crappy festival (Sauna Open Air) where they're going to play. Besides I've seen them already and it's not such a miss.

Anyone heard the preview for the revisted version of 'A Tout Le Monde' already? The song's now called 'A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)' and features guest vocals by Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil).

A 35-second audio clip of the new version of 'A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)', is available online at this location [Real Media required].
There will also appear a video of that song soon.

I know it's always hard to judge a song by a sample, but so far, I think I like the 1994 orginal more.

Looking foward to "United Abominations" though. I'm pretty curious what it'll give...

Holy shit, it looks like megadeth is coming to Israel again! at least for their sake they wont have dissection fans stampeding the stage now that jon is dead. good thing i didnt pay money for megadeths last performance...because they didnt get to play and the ticket cost a fortune. maybe this will be a good place to officially start with megadeth, i only know the most common megadeth songs

So what happenned in the end? did rotting christ play? he banned dissection over here, but in one aspect I can understand him because he set up the gig...but still, I think its too straight edge for him to have banned such an infamous band.

I just heard the revamped version of "A Tout Le Monde" with Christina from Lacuna Coil. It is a very nice song, she is a very talented singer and damn she is gorgeous. As for the song itself it has an extended solo in it and is sped up a bit and sounds more heavier, but I still prefer the original to it.

As for the new album, from the songs I've heard it sounds very promising, Sleepwalker is such a tight song.
Can't wait to hear the studio version of the songs.

Finally Rotting Christ didn't play and Megadeth were alone. But my point is that Dave Mustaine is christian and you thanked satan. my example was given just for you to understand that he doesn't like anything concerning to satan etc

Oh yeah, another 2 songs of the new album! Now 50% of the album is official and one of the remaining tracks is a cover. I can't wait to hear the rest, it's good thrash! Pretty superior to TSHF, although I did like that one, too. Megadeth returning to form big time, great! They kick Neo-Metallica's asses! /m/

I want old Megadeth back. I need to see Mustaine on stage with Dave Ellefson, Nick Menza (who now plays on a greek band that's awful immitation of Megadeth) and Chris Poland or Martin Friedman.. Or do I really want 'em all????:mad7:

When i first heard megadeth, I wasn't really into it because of the vocals. Then I started to hear more and more songs and now I'm a huge fan of Megadeth. I can't wait until United Abominations, hope it's good. Who's heard the song "Sleepwalker" yet off the new album?

Ellefson won't come back because he thinks Dave broke up the band under poor circumstances.
Marty's living in Japan now (I think), and probably likewise won't be wanting to work with Dave again.
As for Nick...that's a good one. He was kicked out by Dave, anyway.

Perhaps you haven't picked up on this trend yet, but people who join Megadeth often don't last long...and when they leave, they don't come back. Compare this to what Kerry King (KERRY KING!) has said about Dave; 'He's not a very nice man to work with'. When Kerry King says that about you, you must either be the spawn of Satan, or an absolute bastard.

That said, I've always liked 'Deth, even the Risk-era stuff. Mustaine's voice is the clincher for any potential fan, because he's too egotistical to admit he can't really sing, and he's too competitive to let Metallica have a rhythm guitarist/vocalist and him on rhythm guitars alone. Anyway, long live Peace Sells/Rust in Peace!

I don't think so. I read an article where he said his nerve damage is restricting him more and more, but he'll continue to play until he feels that he's no longer able to do so. As long as Metallica is still around, Megadeth will still be around.

Really? cus im reading it in revolver right now, and he pretty much sums it up as he wants Megadeth to go out on top.

Heard on the radio the other day that Dave said that if this album doesn't have global success then it will be the last, I'd just like to translate what Dave means:

"If this album doesn't do better then Metallica's"
