World Cup 2010 - Playoffs

It's the first time that Spain reaches the semi-final since there are semi-final kickout matches. I'm getting SO wasted next Wednesday with my friends, whether we win or whether we lose, as most of them are half-German.

It would definitely be better for Germany to have Ballack on the semi-final, though.

I didnt stop posting because England got put out. I havent posted much for a while cos Ive been very depressed, and Ive also been having a hard time getting a stray cat to settle into being a house cat. lol

Ive still been watching all the games though! I was also surprised to find that Tim 'Wesley Schneider' Owens, and Charlie 'David Villa' Benante have been moonlighting as professional footballers. lol

So as this match is winding down, it's plain to see we wear the crown. You know Spain is the number one, but we don't care, we just wanna have... the World Cup! (Fun, you stupid idiot!)

Just returned from a weekend in France where I've watched the Ger v Arg match. Wow. Just wow. I would've never thought our squad would be this awesome. I missed the rapid counter-attacks, at times there were only two players going for the counter, so in my opinion the goals were only the result of spontaneous flashes of genius (after all we only had six shots for the goal), but that sure as hell was a brilliant job in the defensive department! Everyone expected the Argentinians to finally score a goal during their heavy siege at the beginning of the second halftime, but they didn't manage to break through the German stronghold. It was really great to see Messi's despair! I'm really looking forward to Wednesday now. Time to kick out the next Spanish-speaking country!

Klose is so underrated. He's not eye catching but he always gets in the right place and scores, his record for his country is awesome. I love the way he made that last goal against Argetina look so easy. It might sound strange coming from an Englishman but I love Germany and I'm supporting them, after all, we're pretty much half Saxon hahaha. Argentina had to resort to cheating in order to score, having 4 players offside, and it was rightly disallowed. I really enjoyed watching them get beat, I'm sorry to be abusive but fuck you Diego you cheating little shit (just needed to get that out)!

If Spain would play the same way then won EURO, then it would be a spectacle. But we both know they don't.

Fàbregas got injured this morning. Del Bosque is going to repeat Busquets and Torres on the starting team again. Germany is SO going to steamroll us.

Today's game looks also great, I feel like the Netherlanders deserve a WC already.

I don't think the Germans will steamroll Spain... i think Spain have grown somewhat accustomed to that particular style of stacking defense and hoping to break on a counter after Portugal and Paraguay. The reason Germany crushed Argentina and England so handily was those teams just absolutely fell apart. i think Spain will retain their composure a bit better.

i still think the Germans will win (the upcoming match and Cup), though i am rooting first for the Netherlands. they've never won it before. as a fan of several (and some formerly) long suffering US sports clubs, i always like to see hope and faith rewarded. that and Overmars was always a centerpiece on my PS2 FIFA clubs.

Argentina's only strength was their offense. Germany's defense knew how to disarm Messi and company and exploit Argentina's weaknesses, i.e. a deficit in support for their own defense and a coach who had no idea how to come up with counter-tactics. Spain however doesn't have any apparent weakness and Germany's team is too balanced to go for a Swiss tactic. Spain will definitely give us a harder time than England or Argentina.

My friend noted this about the German team during the Argentina game: they seem to consistently play very balanced and well, throughout the whole match, like robots. and the truth is that they seemed like an unstoppable machine when playing against Argentina(presumably one of the best teams in the world)

i can't really say which of the four three teams is most likely to win, i only hope to see some great football.

Actually, Argentina's formation was somehow ''fantasy'' for allowing so much freedom to it's attackers, releasing them from any responsability in marking and leaving only creation. So Maradona (I mean his technical committee) have put a line of four defenders and the ''watchdog'' Mascherano ALONE in front of them.

It works pretty well against teams with no offensive power, but against Germany it was an error not to put Verón to share the midfield marking responsability (and some more accurate pass than Mascherano -_-' ). The game was suppose to be equilibrated, but the goal taken early at 3' expose all the technical deficiency of Argentina... another midfielder would probably made the difference.


Spain sounds like it's gonna be an easier adversary... too much passing and attemptive to a higher percentage of ball possession, and too little objectivity to score... not to mention that they allowed counter-attacks ALL THE TIME. The score will probably not have 4 goals for Germany again, but the game will be much easier than the two previous seemed to be.

Ned start well, whit nice goal, but it didnt scare Par , Oscar Washington Tavarez sad he knows how make team play and thay play well, secend half was good to both teams play well, even Par in end and beggining of secend played better all could be diferent if Par scored secend, but it was awesome triilig game, fun be if Ned lost in OT but it didnt hepen, and I want so much Ger in final

Ok... over, now back to the old bile vomiting avatar.

Uruguay really stated on even footing with Netherlands. Both of the goals from the first halftime were stunningly amazing. Some point in the second halftime however, they allowed the Dutch to score two goals in short time's notice. That had a quite visible demoralizing effect on Uruguayans, from they didn't recover.

The end of the match was pretty dramatic though, since referee seemed to have wanted Uruguay to score for a tie
