Well, instead of limiting our football talk to just the American Metalstormers thread, I decided to just make a topic about it so that everyone can be included.

My favorite football team is the Seahawks and my favorite player is either Lofa Tatupu or Ken Hamlin. My team got bitch slapped by the Bears recently, but we did suffer from significant injuries.

Anyways, who's your favorite team and player?

Who do you guys see going to the Superbowl this year? It's kinda hard to predict because if a key player gets an injury, the team is basically screwed. I think the Colts have a good chance of finally making it, and will either play the Seahawks or the Bears. I doubt that the Steelers will repeat this year because they haven't looked all that great. Well, I can only hope.

Should be some great games in the AFC... not so sure about the NFC.

AFC - as for who I think it will come down to when the smoke clears, the Chargers and Ravens played a mighty close game in Baltimore earlier this year, and it looks like it will probably come down to those two again. Only the rematch will be in San Diego.

The Jets vs. Pats - the Harrison injury hurts. The fact that Mangini undoubtedly knows a lot about the Pats workings from his years there also scares me a little. Pats should win, but they've been better on the road than at home this year. Their D is mighty good. Pats should win in a low scoring game.

The Chiefs vs. The Colts - well, I bashed on the Colt Hype on this board, and it looks like shortly thereafter that bandwagon came to a screeching halt with bodies flying in every direction. The Chiefs are probably a 'worst nightmare' scenario for the Colts Run _efense, but Larry Johnson has carried the ball over 410 times this season already. Does he have anough for another 30-40 carries to keep Peyton off the field and the Chiefs alive? If he can be effective and open things up for Trent Green, they could walk out of the RCA dome with a win.

NFC - meh. No clue who to pick. Every team has their glaring holes. Philly is playing as a team, I think they might make it out of the conference.

Cowboys vs. Seahawks - The Cowboys pass defense has been terrible lately. If the weather isn't too miserable, I think Matt Hasselbeck will shred them. Cowboys need Romo to avoid the mistakes he's been making an awful lot of lately if they want to leave the northwest still alive.

Giants vs. Eagles - The Giants have lost six of their last eight. The Eagles were written off when McNabb went down, then stormed back to win the division. I picked them to come out of the NFC, so it should be obvious who I think will come out of this game.

Superbowl - Bolts over the Eagles.

I keep on forgetting about the Eagles. If their running game holds up and Jeff Garcia continues to play consistantly, they definitely have a chance to make the Super Bowl. I still think the Bears can somehow pull it off though with their defense.

^^^ You appear to have more faith in my team than I do. As the wise Han Solo once stated: "I have a bad feeling about this."

lol well, last year they were way worse on offense and still were able to win. I just don't see any NFC teams that can beat them, unless Grossman has one of his classic zero quarterback rating games...

Yeah, I suppose you are right. I also suppose that you are happy that your team is able to advance in the playoffs. Sucks for Romo.

That Seahawks game was way too intense and dramatic for me. I prefer predictable blowouts lol. I'm just glad that Homo didn't complete that touchdown run at the end...

Everyone I talked to today blamed it on a bad snap. I made a point in saying that Romo simply fucked up. The snap looked good to me, I think Romo was nervous and lost it.

Oh yeah, the snap was perfect. Tony HOmo caught it cleanly, but as he set it down, it slipped from his small, girly little hands.

Damn, seems like New England will probably win it again this year. I'm so fucking tired of watching them win every damn game.

I PRAY that the colt DO NOT WIN THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was Born and raised in Baltimore, MD - the first city the Colts palyed for before the up and left in the middle of the night, leaving us with no teams for years!!!!!! So, naturally: I LOVE THE RAVENS

And the Colts can kiss my white A**.....
I was heartbroken when Indy destroyed us at the playoff game the year.. I was hoping we'd win (is was a grudge match)
Plus, that would've made it 2 times in one decade us Ravens made it to the superbowl, and this is Indy's first time ever!!!! I guess they were good riddance, huh? At least we replaced them with a team who could bring home the trophy.

I am completely purple-hearted for my home team!!!!!!!

So what does everyone (and by everyone I mean the 3 people who post in this thread) think/want the outcome of the game to be? I figure we should probably fire up this thread one last time before it fades away until September.

See, I really can't decide. I have a coworker from Chicago who's a Bears fan and always talks constant shit about the Seahawks. I also have a raging hate towards Grossman. However, I think the Bears are a better team than the Colts and I'm sure they will win. I guess it would be a good thing for Seattle if the Bears won because that way, we would have lost to the best team. On the other hand, Manning deserves a Super Bowl win and they didn't screw us out of the playoffs...

Basically, I have no clue who to root for. This way, I can just sit back and enjoy the game...well, besides the fact that I'll be working at the same time

I'm with pyro on this, I gotta say the Bears will win. For some reason, everyone is calling them the underdog, when I thought the Colts were clearly in that position.
