People who have no actual knowledge of metal. Only they can say Fred Durst is the 71st greatest metal vocalist of all time and rank Tim "Ripper" Owens 97th.
Really? o_O Whoever came up with that list should be hit. That's crazy--putting fucking Fred Durst on the list is bad already. But then placing him ABOVE someone like the Ripper? People have no sense.
What's worse is Linkin Park/Limp Bizkit fanboys who enter metal topics frequently point it out to defend themselves.
Oh I read that Hit Parader list, too. I don't think it's really that bad. there are some awesome vocalist in this list. Rob Halford, Robert Plant, Klaus Meine, Bon Scott, Dee Snider, Udo Dirkschneider and Brian Johnson and I actually dson't really care the order. But I was wondering why Fred Durst is in this list and why Jonathan Davis is the 16th greatest vocalist(I Don't hate his voice but it isn't really that amazing).
Brian Johnson never struck me as that of a good vocalist. He's pathetic compared to Bon Scott and other classic rock vocalists.

True, I like Bon Scott 1000 times more than him. The only album with johnson which I like is Back in Black. High Voltage, Highway to hell and many other albums with Scott are far better than the albums with Johnson. That's the reason why I don't like AC/DC that much anymore.

Okay. I still for Inferno. Herman Rarebell is a good drummer, too. But I don't think you can call him one of the fastest

Inferno is a defenite for pure speed...Though I do miss Vitek of Decapitated, he was pretty kick a** when he was alive.

Look, i dont believe these lists at all. im just saying that someone else shares my view that they think he is a great drummer. Im sure all the people your listing are great at drumming and i just havent listened to them yet, or maybe i have, but i havent realised they arent in the band i am listening to, considering i dont know every musician in every band i have. But he is amazing >.>

Im stuck between 2 drummers when it comes to being fast, efficient and fucking awesome
1. Richard Christy
Bands where he excels:
- Death (sound of perseverance)
- Iced Earth (Horror Show // The Glorious Burden)
.... (theres alot of other bands but yeah im stating my favs)
2. Brann Dailor
Band
- Mastodon
First, they're two great drummers and no one can deny their talent. Richard shows so much skills in Sound of Perseverance, the first time I've listened to this album... the song (Scavenger of Human sorrow) especially... I couldn't believe my ears, so fast and precise.. In short that guy rocks. Then on the other hand... Brann Dailor, with 4 amazing albums where you can hear him giving his best and witness him druming like a fucking maniac never missing never giving it up.. He's good thats for sure and he did a superb job with Mastodon.

Their are many many fast drummers but you really see the speed in BM. So like most of you, i think it's between Frost, Hellhammer or Inferno. But i'd also throw in the guy of Kataklysm just for his hand speed, nothern hyberblast is pretty sick.

I'd definitely go with George Kollias (Nile) or Max Kolesne (Krisiun)
I'll second Max Kolense.

Have none of you ppl heard of Tim Yeung...granted i havent viewed every page in this topic but ive looked at a few pages and everyone goes apeshit over guys like Jordison, Hellhammer, Vitek, Sandoval, Barker, Frost and several others but i have yet to see anyone mention another great god of the skins Tim Yeung (who also won WFD 2007 fastest feet) who has been asked to sit in for one of the best and most renowned not to mention oldest beaters in all of death metal Pete "The Feet" Sandoval. now im not saying none of my aforementioned names arent awesome cuz i love every one of them as well and im not saying Tim is the best or the fastest but no one can deny that that lil fucker can play his ass off and hes also been in several big names of death metal including Hate Eternal and Vital Remains...also for the love of whatever deity you ppl worship the drummers name from Kataklysm is Max Duhammel and the drummer for Panzerchrist (or at least the one im sure most are thinking of even tho hes no longer with them who also sat in with Galder for OMC's Vermin) is Reno Kiilerich, also Hellhammer sat in for the Battles in the North tour and a music video from the album not the actual recording...Kollias also uses only 1 foot for blasting and yes technically Mike Mangini won 3 diff WFD titles but thats using twitch reflex not actual technique so imo dont count when comparing to actual practical use and technique...imo tho for sake of debate, and not in any particular order: Kollias, Duhamel, Vitek, Mounier, Roddy, Sandoval, Laureano, Frost, Yeung, Barker, Shannon Lucas, Kolesne, Torson, Inferno, Tjodalv, Marquez, Pitruzzela, Simonetto, Talley, Hoglan, Proscriptor, Suzuki, Jordison...god i could keep going but i just defeated the purpose of the debate bcuz all these dudes are retarded fast and skilled...

I think the answers might be endless, and no one will ever know the fastest one, ppl sometimes think some drummer is fast, but that depends on how the drums are mixed in the song, sometimes it's very clear and in the fromt so it just stuck in your face and those kicks crush you, some drummers can have the same speed or even higher but are never noticed....alot of black metal players cheat by using triggers which made it easy to go very fast on kicks and blastbeats and fills and rolls like Hellhammer for example. alot of these drummers (Torson, Barker, Mounier, Christy, Sandoval,......etc) can do the same thing and speed but it also depends on the music each of their bands plays, some tunes from guitars and bass can made the song feels faster on drums than other songs and tunes...some drummers can handle long passages, some not, some can make super high fast things just for some milliseconds, and so on........
the only way you can figure it out is put some kit and let everyone tries his best and measure their speed
Lately i like the guy from Obscura and Romain Goulon from Necrofagist in terms of speed and technique..
Cheers

There's a new drummer from Victoria (Canada) who slays. Spencer Pewet from ARCHSPIRE is extremely fast and technical. Their first album will be out for their next US tour. Check these guys out.
P.S. Spencer, also, has a article on him in Sick Drummer Mag.

Look at their BPM in actual songs. If Kollias deserves mention playing at 255-260, than Leon Macey of Mithras must be mentioned playing at 265-270. Most of what Tim does is at 250 that I heard with DB, and Aurora Borealis.

Leon Macey has something like 320-340 on the Vae Solis song
I only have the one album, I just listened to it it's around 320. LOL! I sent Void a piece of a guitar solo I did @292, stuff like that is a mindtrip to be able to play. I can't drum at all, I've attempted and failed in front of a few attractive guys, embarassing.

Hehe, i for my part confess that i'm not that good, i know the basics, i can play a few songs on guitar, bass AND drums, but (yes i admit it) i'm not very good, and since i've tried i know how "easy" it is to play shit with over 280 :S but the point is...Leon Macey is not even a drummer, he's a guitarist and learned to play the drums in order to be able to record the album, cuz he didn't have a full band so that 320 pace was his very first official attempt at the drums...
Most people never get much past 250-260, let alone play anything complex at that speed. I have 1 song at 328 but it's only about 40% written. Playing some double picked riffs on a single string at 260 is not "hard", playing something in the realm of say Atheist, or a complex jazz piece at 320, yea not much of that floating around. lol And no he's not the live drummer. lol

Oh yes, seen it before and the comments made me laugh. He is able to keep his finger placement the same for 90% of the song. Course I'm sure he can play others things that speed just the same, but I did noticed he fixed his placement pretty well.

They don't have anything quite that fast that I've heard.

Got anything of him playing over 320bpm, also groove is not part of the question.
