I had no idea about this band, I haven't listened to anything else before, I just got intrigued by the artwork. Sounds really unique and I thoroughly enjoyed this album.

At first listen a few songs were good and some felt like a chore to sit through. will get back to this again. I feel there are some layers that need to be peeled off

First time I hear about this (not really into anything labeled "black"). A pretty weird combination of great music and annoying clownship. Although I guess I expected a lot more of the latter, considering the album name. Not sure how I feel about it together. I guess I'd like it a lot if there was an instrumental version...

Apart from a couple of questionable clean vocal passages, the album is SO good. Mister Curse remains one of the most important leading vocalists of modern black metal and extreme music as a whole. He changes dynamically between fury, over the top drama and palpable menace. After the first couple of listens I think I still prefer the previous record but time will tell.
Also, the concept is intriguing! I think I have a broad idea of what it’s about but I’ll have to check the lyrics.

I agree InnerSelf, this is a really cool album! I really like the vocal deliveries, all tracks are good but Roots Circle Backwards and Sway, Draped in Vague are incredible! Can’t wait to dig in with more listens.

A Forest Of Stars has always had a unique sound. This time around, I'm happy to hear many similarities to their 2012 album, "A Shadowplay For Yesterday."
There's a lot of theatricality and many elements throughout the songs that draw you in. The vocals are harsh but with a crooner-like style that tells stories.
I think it requires patience and close attention to fully appreciate this album. I think the second half of the album is a significant improvement.

After 2 listens, I can definitely say that I love the album. Can Always count on the theatricality of A Forest Of Stars, still a lot to uncover with more listens.
It is long, but then again most of their albums are.
P.S. I love that the last song is named Not Drinking Water.

I’ve changed my rating from an 8 to a 9. Why? Because this band and album deserve it. It’s a fantastic record.
One of the biggest hangups for people seems to be the vocals of the frantic man. To be fair, I think the aversion to that vocal style parallels the way many people react to black metal vocals. In other words, the same thing that keeps some listeners from embracing black metal and its subgenres is happening here, even among people who are otherwise comfortable with harsh vocals.
When the female clean vocals appear throughout this album, the return of the frantic man's vocals becomes even more satisfying. His delivery heightens the urgency of the message he’s trying to convey. There’s a raw emotional quality to his performance that may initially come across as off-putting—much like black metal vocals can for some listeners—but ultimately feels essential to the overall experience.

The second half of that song is some of the best music they ever produced. Instant classic.

This album started with a rating under 7, which did not make any sense to me at all. Fortunately, it is moving toward the number it deserves (8, at least). With every listen it is growing on me more and more and becoming one of my favourite AFOS albums. And I love the artwork.

I can’t get enough of this album. I do tend to get overexcited about stuff that I like but this might honestly be my favorite album by them! They went above and beyond with this one. The emotional impact is also amplified because It feels a lot more personal than the rest of their discography.

Heard it some weeks ago and I must say that is another great release from those guys. I thank God and the life for musicians like those guys who really want to surpass themselves with each new release.

I'm thrilled to see this album is getting so much praise. I've been a longtime follower of the band, and it seems their return with the new album and on the stage has been worth it for them. They just played Fortress Fest this weekend and it was an absolutely incredible delivery of the new material.
