Sojourner - Gateways

Is Miss Heike here? It will be very interesting to see how this turns out.

Any song in which Heike participates becomes instant gold.

Album is already on youtube. Sounds good, but as too often for me with this kind of music, first few tracks feel great, and then it's just kinda more of the same... And same with Heike. In all projects where I heard her sing after UAGV, she's good, but way too same. Voice is there, but the magic is missing...

I too cannot escape the clutches of Heike worship. I guess it's a matter of personal resonance and the memories of seeing her live, but she has such a cosmic, nebulous voice that I can listen to her sing literally anything. She invariably elevates the material she's on.
As to the album, the songwriting seems strong and varied enough after the initial listen (as is usually the case with Sojourner), and I hope some revisits will reveal even more cool details

I absolutely love Heike's voice in her Draconian, Light Field Reverie, and Remina albums. However, this Sojourner one doesn't seem attractive after a few tracks.

Mix between gothic, gothic doom and meloldic black metal. Heike should be hired gun in other bands, turns out great

My first impression wasn't a great one, but decided to listen again before commenting and I like some parts of the album. Heike is good as always, but I feel she doesn't get the songwriting that complimented her vocals in Draconian.

Epitaphs is a great track though.

Well, I listened this enough times to say that it's nothing more than a nice bit of background music for my ears. Sadly, the intro is the most interesting part. And I don't think that songwriting is the only problem with Heike. She had more than enough space to shine on the last track, but... just didn't. Whatever the reason, her style of singing here (and in all her other projects, if I'm being completely honest) just doesn't work for me: pleasant, but not exceptional like on UAGV.

Nice to know someone there is a fan of Morrowind, though. But true fans would name a song after Arkngthunch-Sturdumz.

never really gave a chance to this band, but after trying to listen to this, it was probably the right decision. turned it off halfway through, unlistenable plastic production with nothing remotely interesting happening.
