Here is the topic where, like in the old forum, American Metalstormers can congregate and talk about metal and what is happening in their state. Hope y'all have fun!

Sup everybody,
so i'll be in the states for almost a month, and i wanna meet up with you guys ... so here's my program and if anyone's nearby we should definitely hang out;

10/1 - 10/8 Washington, DC
10/8 - 10/12 New Orleans, LO
10/12 - 10/15 Buffalo, NY and Milwaukee, WI
10/15 - 10/19 San Francisco, CA
10/19 - 10/22 Seattle, WA

i might stay another extra week if i feel that i didn't get enough of one of the cities, and if i have the money for it ... most probably SF

it'll be cool hitting up shows in different states ... i'll see what major bands are touring these cities (though their shows would probably be sold out already), and you guys could help me out with underground band playing in clubs, recommendations are welcomed and appreciated.

I might be able to meet up with you in San Francisco or washington. Depends when I make this move.

Cause the purpose of the trip is mainly educational (sustainable design and green buildings) so those are the cities where the courses are provided.. also i'm going to try my luck in finding a job in Seattle as it is global leader in the "LEED architecture" field, which is my specialty... so if things turn out my way, maybe i'll stay for a little longer and you guys keep bitching about us foreigners taking American jobs

LEED = Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

PS: Don't you live in Arizona ? that's like the middle of the desert, man .. so "Egypt-like"

DC is fucking Boring, there are no shows here, no metal bars, or even stores to buy bands t-shirts (have to buy online and i neither have a credit card nor am staying in one place long enough for the shirts to be delivered)

looking forward to going to Syracuse, meeting some peeps in a biker bar there, i think that's the closest i'll ever get to "metal" while in the states !

There really are none in the US. There is one here in LA but its always fucking packed to the door. Best bet is to just find a venue serving boo's that has a show playing.

Your right though, DC is boring. But there are always tons of shows playing that are within a short distance. TONS.

I agree with you about the annoyance factor, but I'm curious what you think is a better solution.

I say pull a Twelve Monkeys and unleash the zoo animals!

Maybe mass suicide will get their attention. No I'm just kidding. I really don't know. I just feel bad for the people and the businesses that are suffering down there. Never seen the whole thing of Twelve Monkeys.

At least mass suicide will clear up the streets.

PS that Twelve Monkeys reference was totally a spoiler.

They don't...can't really tell you why it's done if you want in any way to be surprised by the ending.

Although if you take note of the protesters in the movie you'll notice some of them are more about flyers and rallying and others are about bombing political figures. There's always two different types of protesting and it seems for the most part the Occupy protests haven't escalated beyond "occupying".

The ones in the city don't strike me as radicals. For the most part they have also been non violent. So I give them credit for that.

Exactly. It's great that they have kept it at that, even after what has happened.

So, if those people actually DO something eventually and after weeks of sleeping in the streets fighting for their cause and rights (which is a better community for YOU and them) and you feel "inconvenienced" sleeping in your big warm bed and just annoyed by "seeing" them while going to work ? .. i dont think you deserve the fruits of their struggle. i think the US should be divided into two countries, one for people who actually fought for their country to make it better (whether they're veterans or protesters or volunteers in help-groups, ...etc) and another country for lazy people who dont bother lifting up a finger to make their country better, and not only that, but they bitch about how the other people trying to fix the country are "annoying" them, JEEZ !!

First of all I don't live or work in the city so I'm not being inconvenienced one bit. I'm talking about the businesses and residents in that area who are suffering because these people are down there. If you consider drug use, rape, destruction of property, threats, and people being overall dirtbags fighting for their country and their rights you are clueless. They have no idea what they are even there for. it's costing the city tons of money in police overtime so much to the point that there's a very good chance new recruits are gonna get the shaft in janaury when the do there usual hiring. All I here is down with banks down with the 1%. Do you realize that around 80% percent of millionaires are first generation millionaires who earned their money. Do you realize that only 14% of millionaires in the country are involved in banking and finance. Do you know that store owners are being threatened if they don't give protesters free food and water that there will be major repercussions. All they are doing is wasting money the city doesn't have and costing some businesses up 25% of what they were making before this all started. Yeah it sounds like a mighty good reason for them to stay down there to me.
