Balls. This is something most people claim is lacking in the metalcore genre, especially when considering the new and popular bands. Well ladies and gentlemen, this album has balls, and tons of it.

From the moment the first track kicks in it's clear that these Welsh dudes are more than capable of delivering solid, heavy, fresh and technical music that is catchy and likeable at the same time. Yes, the mainstream influences are there but the emotion never takes a backseat in favor of catchiness just for the sake of it. The combo of tracks 3 and 4 is the best way to describe this whole album: a catchy pop rock tune that goes straight into an energetic song with heavy guitars. During the course of these two songs the dudes show their diverse influences from Queensrÿche to Metallica to In Flames, all done with taste and a conviction rarely seen in this genre. Originality does take a backseat as the main difference between this and other metalcore bands is that, while this album follows mostly the same formulas, they actually manage to create some quality music, which in my eyes more than makes up for the formulaic approach.

I just never could get in to 'bullet for my valentine'.
One or two good tracks from the album but there really is nothing special here.

Despite generally having a distaste for music that is obviously designed to sell as much as possible, I have to say I enjoy this album. It's fairly thrashy for a -core album, and being a thrasher, their enjoyable to listen to. The emo vocals are irritating at times, but aren't as bad as many other whiny vocalists. Only major downside is the breakdowns. Damnit, why do young folks enjoy those things so much!

In order to maitain a level of kvlt kredability, I will say that Fever sucked major ass.

I must say in middle school I listened to Bullet every day on my way to school. Those songs are no longer in my everyday playlist (I think I over-played them a bit), but that's not to say I don't listen to them at least once a week. The band in general reminds me of my incredible school life that I hated so much. I remember playing Scream Aim Fire on Guitar Hero and my friend asked me if I was bi-sexual...Beautiful memories.

Woah!? I'm a female? No way! You're far too observant. Tone that down a bit.

I agree with you completely, sir! "Scream Aim And Fire" and "Waking The Demon" are the only two songs from this album that are worth listening to..

First album was ok... but the others have not felt as captivating. I can get on with commercial sometimes, but... this band only up to a certain extent.

Funny, what a shame !
Why did they put the best 4 tracks at the bottom ?
Luckily I have a habit of finish listening every album all the time otherwise I will rate this album lower.

Btw, the 1st track is definitely designed to be commercial, sounds silly to me. I started paying attention to the guitarist, he reminds me of Richie Samborah who can always put the right riffs at the right place.

Try listening to the last 4 tracks, they might help to upgrade your rating.

For perspective, as a kid / teen who enjoyed the Poison as part of getting into heavier music, me & my teen mall goth / emo buddies all disliked this record immensely. Was seen as a sell out record, we felt similarly of Triviums The Crusade and Avenged Sevenfold's City of Evil. That said, after many years finding better stuff, this is just a pretty mediocre overall record. Not to say B4MV were ever that crash hot. I'd say their change from Korn esque Nu Metal, which was late in following a trend, to the total switch up into following the newest Vans Warped Tour Metalcore sound trend, almost makes them seem like industry plants or at least, very disingenuous as a band. Chasing sales more than making music for the sake of being creative, and that shows in what is a pretty devoid of inspiration, mimicry of better bands.

Probably my least favorite lead guitarist of all time.

Aye, he is very mediocre. I remember he did an instructional video for his solos, and they essentially amounted to 4-5 patterns played with 3 string sweeps, and a few other bends. Basically like a practice lick, but that was what he put on the record.
