Boom boom, piñata! Four years after Negative Megalomania we've got visitors again! Forgotten Tomb are here once again with Under Saturn Retrograde being the fifth part of their legacy to date and for the first time we can see some color on the cover artwork! The black n' white era is over and a septic yellow/brown portrait having its origins in Asian horror films has taken its place. Well, don't tell me that the girl in the cover doesn't look like Sadako?!

Me too, even if it does end up sounding like a Kata-clone-ia. Which judging by the last album is pretty likely.

Released in 3 days time!!!!

They have been going progressively downhill with each release IMO but i will hope & pray that they will be back to the standards of 'Songs To Leave' with this one

Just heard this earlier today, and (to keep with the motif of 2011) I was honestly surprised. It's melody-heavy, not as doom-oriented (though the influence is still undeniably there), more traditional black metal. Morbid still hits his high notes with ease, and at times he has this Tagtgren-"era" Bloodbath thing going on. Really good stuff: pleasantly surprised.

PS - that Stooges cover is ridiculously catchy!

It starts of Kata-clone-ia/Paradise Lost clone once again

Yeah, I made it through one sitting of the record but I don't think I'll be re-visiting it any time soon to be honest. There are far better records floating around at the moment.

I agree with Troy here, i wasnt expecting much at all from this album but was pleasantly surprised. Ok its nothing like Songs To Leave but i have long since given up on FT returning to the great black / doom sound. But judging it as more of a melodic black metal album with doom influences, i have to say i quite enjoyed it.

'Downlift' & 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' are the highlights for me.

I gave it a spin after 18 months or so. This album is just sick. How could I reject this from my playlist ? And "Songs to leave" is soooooo good that it would be a big fail to step twice into the same river.
