Chimaira - Resurrection

IMO, Their best album so far. Every song including the 2 added bonus songs (Kingdom Of Heartache & Paralyzed) are excellent. Though, i think the songs: Resurrection & Needle were the weak ones. Killing The Beast being the weakest song on here...

Agree with you, except where you mentioned Ressurrection as a weak track. This track is one of the best along with Six and Empire

Agree with you, except where you mentioned Ressurrection as a weak track. This track is one of the best along with Six and Empire

After the album grew on, bein one of my all-time favs, the weakest tracks are 'Killing the Beast' & 'Paralyzed'. And yes, 'Empire' is fantastic. This album is great the scream to as well lol. Sadly, Mark Hunter is the only original remaining member :/

Ressurection and Six are excellent tracks, however the remainder of the album is severely the melody and groove found in the aforementioned tracks

I guess this is overshadowed by Chimaira's previous self-titled album (which in my opinion is the band's career-defining record), but that doesn't mean that "Resurrection" doesn't deliver the goods. The first three songs for me are really powerful, solid pieces of heavy, groovy metal and the instrumentation is as solid as anything else the band had done before. However, after the unnecessarily long 'Six', for me the album seems to stagnate a bit. From 'No reason to live' through to 'End it all', it just seems like the band took a step back and produced average slabs of more or less the same sound and structure. Thankfully however this is more than made up for by the album's last few songs, especially 'Empire' which is very strong and consistent. So yeah, the middle part of this album for me is by far the weakest, but not weak enough to drag down the album's quality too much.

Are you kidding? "Six" has one of the most natural progressions I've ever heard...and those melodies! Beautiful track.

It's decent but I just think it's too long for its own good, personally. A song with natural progression doesn't have to be necessarily long.

This is really good. I don’t think it’s better than Impossibility of Reason (mainly because this album doesn’t have Implements of Destruction)
