Slightly disappointing from Empyrium, while Songs of Moors & Misty Fields A Wintersunet are both masterpieces, weiland is step downwards 7/10 IMO

You must ignore the previous albums "not that they are not brilliant" in order to really appreciate this release .

Primitive compared to Agalloch's The Mantle, but still enjoyable.

I have to say I wasn't able to appreciate this style of Empyrium "back in the day" but now I can. Really relaxing stuff with an amazing, mysterious atmosphere.

Primitive compared to Agalloch's The Mantle, but still enjoyable.

Firstly, which album isn't primitive compared to The Mantle? And secondly, the style is hardly the same. Yes, half of the tracks of The Mantle are neofolk, but that's it. This album is pure neofolk and is just vastly different from The Mantle.

Comparing it to Agalloch's The White would be a better comparison.

Oh no, you found one of my older comments. I yield! Any comment pre-2016 ish is not er...representative. Let's say that was LeKiwi 0.5 (alpha version)

Not that my rating would change, but you've a good point if they're not the same style. TBH...I don't remember...

Haha! Good to know.

I can say the same, as my username literally implies. Not that my music preference and knowledge changed drastically in all those years, but I did. Anyways, maybe you can listen to it again and you might change your mind, seeing as you don't remember. I guess in general one needs to be in a certain mood for this kind of album.

Tried it again now and same result. It's not bad, it's just...something I'd expect in the background of a medieval tavern or during a DnD game Nothing I'd actively listen to.
