This band is labeled as trancecore; what's that?

Generic metalcore with more breakdowns/chugging than usual and random synth and techno/dance parts placed in the song, often times used during breakdowns, so that they can be both moshed and danced to. Trancecore also served as a precursor to crabcore, which is basically trancecore, but with even more synth, extensive use of autotune, and the guitars reduced to nothing but chugging.

Checked their myspace page; it's really bad IMO

HORSE SHIT! this is no band, they are a boy-band targeted at high school kids that aren't popular and think they like metal when in reality they are just emo fucks. They are seriously a byproduct of marketing schemes and nothing more.

Don't worry, I have both their albums on my iPod and listen to them once in a while when I feel like listening to atrociously catchy metalcore. Though I prefer Reckless over this one.

And i thought once that was good...y did i even buy that cd a year ago o.O

Is it wrong I am starting to like this track?

I listened to a couple of tracks off their new album though and I found it to be completely garbage. Sure the vocals are better and it is more mature and whatever but it is just sterile and boring and seem to be obsessed with bad 80s metal/hard-rock that I just really really dislike.

Some bands should just stick to being immature, banal and fun because they really don't know how to be serious.

Ahhhhh... the three pioneering modern metalcore albums (other two being Attack Attack's debut and BMTH's Suicide Season). I still think that Suicide Season is the only listenable album of the three due to not using that autotune, not throwing horrendously out of place trancy-techno segments that serve no purpose whatsoever, and actually having some legitimate viciousness in it on top of the fun.

So about Stand Up And Scream, I once tried to listen to the whole thing as a joke. The highs and lows in metalcore actually usually aren't too bad, it's what they do otherwise that brings the genre down. For this, it's when the autotune clean vocals kick in, the music gets excessively breakdown-heavy without any real weight, or THE TRANCE SEGMENTS. It still can't beat your average Attack Attack song in the most out-of-place EDM segments, but at least those guys have a sense of humor about it and really stress the "fun" aspect of early modern metalcore (as utterly horrendous as their debut may have been). The massive problem I have with most modern metalcore is that it tries to sound so brutal and vicious while having this really light guitar tone and clean vocals everywhere. It's hard to take it seriously, and this shows it really well.

I thought of it the same way I think of almost every non-metal album. It's listenable (at least for me), but it bores me. All I can think about is how much I want to listen to other stuff.
