Veteran extreme metallers Pandemonium are back with another full-length release after quite a lengthy silence following their 2007 album, Hellspawn - a return to the band's roots following up an experimental failure in The Zonei in 2004. Misanthropy continues the return-to-roots style, much to this listener's delight.

With this release I (obviously) expected to be in for a brutal and intense ride and that was exactly the case. I really appriciated that the album, although heavy and chaotic, didn't lack groove and melody. Far from it. Also, the vocals were overall very good aside from being a bit too slurred for my liking at times. The addition of female vocals on a couple of the songs was a pleasant feature that helped to spice things up in terms of atmospehere.

There wasn't really anything about Misanthropy that surprised me in any way but that doesn't mattter since all in all it is a solid album that above all managed to keep me headbanging furiously the whole way through so I can't complain.
