Too bad this band is so unknown. This album is one of my all time favorites and a good presentation of a more European prog world.
Right up there with "Parallels" from Fates Warning or "Empire" by Queensryche.

This is a magnificent album. I can hear a lot of influence drawn from Rush and Fates Warning, but Sieges Even still have their very own unique style that stands out. Like already mentioned above, this is their first album with a good vocalist and there's a lot of class here. I just love the clean and super warm sounding production that lets me hear every nice little detail. I don't get how a great album such as this could have this low rating.

Well, probably because progressive metal is one of the unpopular subgenres on MS.

Well, probably because progressive metal is one of the unpopular subgenres on MS.

Well, three progressive bands in the top 10 featured bands suggests otherwise... also the rating of the successor records.

This record always seemed over the top vocally and unnecessarily complicated musically. I think they've done better on "Steps", and on later albums - especially on "The Art Of Navigating By The Stars". There is a lot of melody lines that go nowhere, just exist in a musical vacuum - or meandering that weigh down the good ideas for me. They managed to hold back on the title track, and it shows: that's simply one of their most beautiful songs. Can't say the same for at least half of the songs here.
Also I wish they had re-recorded the title track with Arno singing, I think it would've been even better.

If by those three bands, you mean Opeth, Death and Dream Theater, it's still not much. Those three bands are also famous, well-known. All three of them have released groundbreaking albums at some point. That's why they're in thayitop 10.

But i still think overall, progressive metal is one of the least popular subgenres on MS.
