Pretty unique grind, heavily leaning towards post-rock.
And it works.

Listened to it again, getting my MSA grind vote. Tough category, but the neck-snappingness on this is in a different league than the other nominees.

Yes. I never thought of it as a grindcore album at all, it's sludgy and thick mathcore. The sound is akin to This Gift Is a Curse, Downfall of Gaia, etc.

Thanks Iron! I will check it out. BTW, take a look at my newly updated 2013 list!

Like Iron: Yeah, I think you will enjoy it or at the very least find it an interesting listening. It does have a lot of different stuff in it and I can hear some grindcore.

Yep. I like it. Someone has to explain to me what grindcore is because like IronAngel said, I hear nothing but sludgy, crust punk, riff-tastic music. It does remind me of Downfall Of Gaia but waaay shorter songs.

I honestly hear no sludge here. Just very crusty and and heavy stuff. I probably agree with this album working better with the Hardcore/Metalcore/Deathcore category but definitely not with sludge.
Thing is... If this was faster, most people wouldn't even challenge the grindcore label and some of the slow parts remind me quite a bit of what Pig Destroyer did once in a while in between the craziness. Example 1 and example 2.

I'm sorry, I know, old comment, but it's so rare to be able to discuss albums with you, you never listen to them.
I would have to disagree with you and say there is sludge in this. The slow and very heavy parts you are referring to are too long and frequent to be ignored, in my opinion. Those guitars are way too muddy and down-tuned not to be called sludgy. I understand why this was labeled as grindcore, but it's not how I would describe the whole album. No metalcore or deathcore either. Just a nice blend of hardcore with sludge elements.

you never listen to them.

What's that supposed to mean?
In any case. Re-listening to it as I type this and yeah... The sludge elements are easier to notice. Not much to say though. Great hardcore with some grind and sludge elements. Shame they disbanded shortly after this album. Also, I like the artwork. That is all.

It was just a joke.
You just broke the news to me, I didn't notice they disbanded. I hate you.
Yeah the artwork is great. I'd love to know in which context the picture was taken.
