Shame this is deathcore as I would usually check out a band named after such a brilliant video game.

I recall listening to this some time ago. I think my impressions were this was decent so it might be worth checking out, though I have no guarantees you'd like this.

Only looked at this thread, because the band is named after one of the all time classic video games!

Damn I meant the previous, self titled album by this band. Just noticed this isn't it .

My thoughts exactly. single worst possible genre to pay tribute to the game, ridiculous choice of band name.

I want to know:
1. Why force yourself to play a genre you don't fully enjoy playing?
2. Give me original band names. I can only think of "Circle Of Dead Children".

I think you may have misunderstood me at some point. I agreed with Joe in that I would NOT be listening to this. It's just a shame that this band would pick such an unsuitable name for the style of music they play, because deathcore is the farthest thing from appropriate. To be honest if I was Sony I would go Ghost B.C. and get them to change the name, which since they are small won't happen but if they ever become big would. And to be honest I have no idea why you are asking me for original band names

No, he understands you perfectly fine. What he is meaning (and it took me a few moments to realize his point as well ), is if the musicians want to play deathcore AND they like the game enough to use the same name, then why should they play a genre they're not interested in playing (i.e. black metal or power metal) just so that people like you and Joe won't diss them for choosing to play deathcore with that band name...

In other words, more respect to the band for choosing to do what they want rather than letting potential detractors dictate what they do with THEIR band.

OHHHHH, what I thought he meant was me playing the album, as in, pushing the play button. My bad, J.N.!!!

Regardless, I will diss them all day. The fact that they are releasing something intended to be viewed as art under the name Shadow of the Colossus and even logo stealing is tragic.

And hey who said anything about black metal or power metal, you know what music would go good with the game.... It's own damn soundtrack!!!

Which is fantastic by the way.

I only mentioned those genres because those are the kinds of bands one might expect such videogame-based homages to come from.

Ah, okay. I definitely agree with power metal, since there are a lot of fantasy based video games and metal bands. I think there is even a band called Powerglove that does power metal versions of video game music.

There certainly is! Those dudes are fucking awesome, both on album and live.

If you've not listened to them before, then here check them out. They're almost purely instrumental, they do have a couple songs with guest vocalists though; they got Tony Kakko to do vocals on their Pokemon cover.

Well this thread made the front page, despite the fact no one has heard the album, nor probably intends to do so.

Well, that's the strength of the name!

The power of stealing. Which of course I am feeding by posting left and right but at least I am filling them with negativity towards this band.

Hey guys, here's my new band, we are called Edge of Sanity (we play Christian Nu Metal), this is the album art for my upcoming album, "I Love Jesus":

track list:

1. I Love Jesus
2. Heavier Than (The Toll On Your Soul After) Skipping Church On Sunday
3. WWI?
4. WWII?
5. WWJD!
6. Smoke Weed Every Day... Not!
7. Junior Dad

Basically, that is an exaggeration of what this band is coming off as to me.

This band makes me want to play the game once again. Just because of the name obviously.
