After four releases of great atmospheric Black Metal, Ukrainian band Drudkh decided it was for time for a change. They laid down there electric guitars and distortion peddles and grabbed nothing but an acoustic guitar, some weird folk instruments and a sparse use of drums. Nothing more. The news that Drudkh would release an all-acoustic album evoked different sorts of reactions in the metal community. Would these fine Black Metal musicians be able to pull this off or would they fail miserably? Now, when I am holding this courageous offering in my hands they, as much as I hate to say it, failed.

Such a soothing album. Not quite on par with Agalloch's White EP but very similar, albeit more repetitive and straightforward. My favorite Drudkh release for sure.

Woah. I'm pretty sure you're in the minority there. Interesting to see though, didn't know anyone had that opinion lol. I used to like it quite a lot more

Definitely in the minority when it comes to my thoughts on this album. The only other person I've seen on here say anything good about it is Susan, but she hasn't been on the site in forever.

I understand why it's so widely hated, although I'm not sure why that hatred is so intense. I read Lucas's review and the comments there and almost everyone seems to think it's a piece of shit. Oh well.

This can't even tie the shoes of Kveldssanger. Now THAT'S how a metal band does neofolk.

Yeah, Ulver somehow managed to keep me entertained, although I gave it a 7.

I must say I grew quite fond of this album since my last comment on it 7 years ago. I still say that Kveldssanger is way better but there are some beautiful passages on this album and it manages to keep the ambience and feelings of quiet contemplation throughout the whole record.
