I don't know why but I thought you had already picked it. It's a great album anyway.

Nah, I was talking about it before adding the profile at one point but that's about it. Hopefully this way more people check it out - I think this band would please a lot of users here.

Listening to their bandcamp, so far and there are sections of this where it sounds as if the band members transcend into Tibetan monk form, albeit still retaining their musical prowess and the ability to shred a sick lick. Its like a drugged up Eastern cultural mix they got going, certainly not run of the mill, very original and a great compliment for 4:20 no doubt. Good find Troy, from Ukraine? Da fuq?

Glad you liked it Timmeh, although it's not surprising coming from someone with a title of "Music Listoner".

According to their Facebook page they're located near Kiev, which doesn't really have anything to do with Berber people but I guess somewhere along the lines they took an interest in that part of history.

Makes for great music in any case.

Haha, indeed. Yeah its a strange case. I'm now convinced the vocalist is a Buddha or something . Don't mean to go all art appreciation on this but I think these meditative, or hypnotic features as you put it provide a strange contrast with the 'doom' elements. One provides a sense of demise the other a sense of bliss? Opposites linked in a holy matrimony through psychedelia. Interesting.

Similarities for sure, only this has less of an abrasive feel and more of a euphoric transcendental kinda thing going for it. Hopefully that doesn't sound too pretentious.

Finding the song list on their bandcamp was a journey, but it was worth it.

They're just making sure your scroll wheel is working.

Om and Yob are kind of the go-to suggestions for the psychedelic stoner doom style. Ufomammut too.

Bong Breaker and Mammatus both have albums up on Bandcamp that might interest you as well. I could go on for days with this so feel free to ask for more suggestions.

One can never have enough Om.
The thing I like most about Ethereal Riffian is that have their own thing going on here, rather than being derivative of any of the above mentioned bands.

The only downside to that is recommending similar bands isn't as simple as it could be.

The cover art kind of looks like it's portraying a homosexual getting an orgasm... but I'll listen to it!

If you want, for the sake of the argument, let's assume it's a guy achieving climax. Now why would he be homosexual?

Listening to Wakan Tanka right now and it's definitely a thick slab of groove. I can turn gay to this.

It is a unique stoner metal album with thunderous and somewhat plodding but powerful punchy moments of embracing meditative spirituality. This album has some mind-blowingly amazing moments that deserve to have your attention. This album is the release that made me fall in love with stoner metal. So, I have a special feeling towards this opus and I do think that this album is the epitome of all the music tagged in stoner metal should sound like.
