We haven't heard news from Soen in quite some time. However, this progressive/alternative metal group has been working on their second album that follows the debut Cognitive. The band features drummer Martin Lopez (ex-Opeth, ex-Amon Amarth), vocalist Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree), guitarist Joakim Platbarzdis and bassist Stefan Stenberg. Their forthcoming studio album is called Tellurian and comes out on November 3rd. Take a look at the album cover below.

Are you excited to hear new material from Soen?

Produced by Platbarzdis, mixed by the legendary Grammy Award-winning David Bottrill (Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, King Crimson, etc.) and mastered at Bob Ludwig's Gateway set-up in the US by Adam Ayan, also a Grammy winner, "Tellurian sees Soen taking the approach of their Cognitive debut (2012, Spinefarm Records) and pushing the boundaries in terms of musical scope, the whole thing shot through with the confidence of a band who have found their voice."

Lopez has been busy of late. Preparing for "Fifth to Infinity"'s debut as well as Soen's new album. They are both gonna kick ass for sure!

I'm keen to hear where they go with a new album, here's hoping it's as peculiar as that cover.

I hope they really develop their own voice on this record. They haven't proven that they are a unique entity like Tool, Karnivool, Rishloo, Cire, etc.

Haven't listened to the whole of the previous album but it certainly sounded like they were an entity like Tool =P

Yup, that's a better way of phrasing my point. Gah I need to sleep and not comment.

Haha, I wasn't picking on what you said or anything, can't see a thing wrong with it, I was just trying to be funny / sticking the boot into the band by saying they sounded a bit too much like Tool =P

Nice, I enjoyed their last record enough to look forward to this. Well at least somebody is getting a move on with their albums, unlike some people I know. I'M LOOKING AT YOU TOOL
