The cover-picture being as bright and out-there as it is, and considering the vaganus on it, I expected this to be a whole lot weirder and up-its-vaganus than it is. Fact is though, the brand of black metal that Acrimonious play is actually pretty straight-forward and accessible.

The problem is, as a whole, it's all pretty dry. When it comes to black metal with an emphasis placed on atmosphere (over, say, the stab-you-repeatedly-with-daggers black metal I normally veer toward), as it is here, iciness and coldness, or in WITTR's case, raininess, captivates me more. Maybe it just fits better with the ecology of my home state, but the lost in a foggy forest thing seems almost essential for it to work for me.

Yeah really good stuff. Shame the review on here sort of misrepresented it.

This has some very good melodic riffage but definitely not meloblack. I guess I'm more with the review here, definitely not as the original or refreshing as the cover and titles suggest. Still a fun listen fo' sure.

I don't think anything here implies originality. Just goes along with the music as some nice accompanying imagery. I wouldn't say it's original, but the songwriting diversity and quality and the stellar, punchy sound is pretty refreshing.

Guess I made the same mistake as the reviewer and went in with a different kind of expectation, anticipating something aggressive/weird by the cover art and titles. Found it overtly melodic when I started listening.

I think my expectation would have been psychedelic, or maybe something akin to Cult of Fire. I think it all ties together fairly well though.

Finished it just now. That two closer tracks are really well written and probably the highlight for me. Especially the penultimate one, just relentlessly furious but still melodic and cool and stuff. Exactly what I want here.
