Desire - Disbanding

It's a sad day for Desire fans worldwide. Through a post on the band's official Facebook page, they have announced their break-up. You can read all about it below. The Portuguese doomsters haven't released a new album since Locus Horrendus - The Night Cries Of A Sullen Soul..., and their 2009 Crowcifix EP will then be their swansong. R.I.P. Desire.

Here is the band's statement: "After 22 years captive in the dark cloisters of misanthropy, of silent screams of pain and agony, despair of the soul that in anguish cried life, but only death heard... only death heard... Desire now closes the gates of the melancholic kingdom...

"Although Desire be something very special for us and in our lives, an extension of ourselves, we decided to drop cloth and end our existence. It was an extremely difficult, but unfortunately unavoidable decision. Proud of each tragic-romantic chapters, an intense story of love, blood and suicide that we were able to bury and which represents unique and special periods in the life of the band and in our own lives as well. We would like to deeply thank all those who helped and supported us in any way in the dark and tumultuous path we tread over time, especially to those who have always identified themselves truly in The Crow's Art over all these years...

"We know that our world was also yours, the whole ambience full of suffering and despair of our works, in some way, were also your tears... More than all rewarding memories of moments, performances, gestures, words, feelings and emotions experienced by your side, remains the expression of our soul in musical form, and that surely, will be eternal... Our great respect to all of you!"

"Black as our emotions,
Sorrowful as our (he)art..."

That means he will have to do some work, and that is too much to ask, it seems. Hell, he doesn't even know about death doom and black and doom bands from his own hometown most of the time.

I guess this wasn't a desirable outcome.

Yeah, I am. Read this news yesterday on FB when Edgar posted it, though.

I was really looking forward to a potential 3rd album that would be as amazing as Locus Horrendus, but sadly that album will never be made now.

True that. They were definitely brilliant. At least, that's what I more or less remember. I still hate myself for having too much beer when they finally appeared on stage. Mourning Beloveth's performance is pretty much a blur, as they came right after Desire (I think).
