Grab your sweord and scyld, because those pesky Danes are back demanding their Danegeld. How will you ever be Engla Cyning if you keep throwing all your geld at those wave-walking interlopers instead of building burhs? Arm thyself, ye thegn of Wessex, and let Forefather lead you to æsctír.

This frequently reminded me of late, folk-era Rotting Christ. Very similar riffs and vocals, both of which are quite fetching in their own right. My main problem with this album has a lot to do with the production. The vocals are buried and muffled and everything just seems a bit off. A little more finesse with the mixing job and this could have been a pretty standout piece of work. Still worth a listen. *Enjoyability=8 Musicianship=8 Innovation=7 Overall=7.5*

Nothing major feud with production as overall aesthetics of Curse Of The Cwelled is standout. Riffs, background synth and vocals sounds perfect.

I really don't know what's the problem with vocals. Yes, little bit stripped off but i really felt it really connects with sound Forefather put up on their new record.

The issue I have is with disjointed parts in between songs. It really not connecting where first half part of song left off and thus, second half becomes uninteresting and weak.

Great one, standard quality from band silent years and then they came up , bad promotion, we do promote d beat, crust punk, some stoner ,sludge and those not so important doom genres (trad doom, death/doom, atmo doom, gothic/doom, black/doom stands higher IMO) but this, I even didn't know it existed when decide listen a - z or 1 - last albums and google and WTF band has new album out
Bad promotion , but good album

I gave the album another spin last night and am actually surprised to see my comment there from months ago. I thought I was listening to this for the first time, and muffled vocals were not noticeable to me at all this time around. I quite like the album. Not sure but maybe they remixed it and replaced the versions on Bandcamp?

Nah, you shouldn't have delete it. Let it be there as it's your initial reaction to this album.

We also have gone through various phases of judging an album(s) and it's fun to see how our comments changes(about a particular record) in months.

That is why we have replay value. You can't judge a complicated album at one sitting.

So, its absolutely fine if your primary reactions to the album doesn't match with reaction of album going through right now.

The music is great but the production is bad,so buries the good riffs and melodies. The drums sound very 'plastic' though. And something is wrong with the vocals too.The first half of the album is heavy enough and the second half is more melodic as this happens in many Forefather's albums..Overall,a quite good release if you are into melodic folk scene.
