Well, it depends of course, what it's for.
I need time to listen to the music and to get a good image formed in my head for me to use. And that doesn't always happen.
For some musicgenres it's easy, for others it's harder or almost impossible. So I don't think I can promise anything.

Paints and a brush would be a good starting point.

...My mother is an artist and she often says the only way to truly get into painting is to NOT TRY and get into painting.

If you're wholly natural, that is, without per-conceptions or expectations about what is going to be produced, you'll end up producing something wholly of-yourself.

Don't try to make a painting look exactly what you're trying to paint, see it as a new image, autonomous of the references you've used.

Keep a distance of at least a few meters when looking at the painting. It should look good from this distance, not when your face is less than one meter away from your painting. (Unless when it's a very small painting, of course)
If it also looks good from very close by it's a bad painting. Distance is important.
Painting is about making an image that looks convincing, if looks convincing from a distance you've done a good job.
And if your legs start to hurt because you've been walking to and from your painting all the time, that's good. It's a sign you're keeping distance.

Paint with determination, not with hesitation. Choose your brushes according to what you want the painting to look like.

For me, painting is mainly about the act of painting itself, not neccessarily about what the painting will look like in the end. It involves a lot of action! And that's fun, but it can be tiring. But that's good, because it really feels like you've been doing a lot (which is true).

I have only limited supplies from what my sister will allow me to use, but I have a 20" by 15" artboard and several shades of white,grey and black acryllic paint.. I plan on doing a dead oak tree on top of a hill

We'll see how it turns out, either way I'll be sure to post pics.

I'm not sure if this really fits in this thread. But this is something that I've been working on and now is finished and working well!

It is a drawing device, welded and constructed all by myself. It really makes drawing way more difficult and complicated than it should be, but that is really what my aim was, haha.
