Blackened death metal mongers Emptiness have unleashed the first teaser promoting their upcoming album, which will be out in January 2017 via Season of Mist to follow Nothing But The Whole (2014). The Belgians joined the label in 2015 promising a new album and here it is the first teaser. Let the journey begin...

The band recorded their new album at Blackout Studio, produced by Jeordie White (Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle) and mixed by Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Guns N' Roses, Shining (NOR)).

Didn't go apeshit like everyone above for the last record. But maybe the look of the teaser promises some good things about the album. Hopefully its more dissonant, heavy and noisy maybe.

I hope not. I'm thoroughly bored of that because that's what every band is these days. Nothing But The Whole was great because it was unique and foreboding without being any of those things to any large degree. It was insidious.

I agree that about the last album, it wasn't brutal or nasty in the traditional bm sense. But my guess of the sound came only the teaser though. Maybe its just a random score and not a snippet of the album, but its not that apparent here.

What made thier last album so great was the subtle approach to the darkness. No other band has gone for that sort of sound, and i will be glad if they continue the same approach. I even would not not consider that album to be extreme metal, and that is the real majic of it. Taking black and death metal sprit without being blatantly a black or death metal record. It was like tribulation merged to aluk todolo.

Yeah, it took me some time to get aboard the Nothing But The Whole train but I'm definitely a fan now, and agree with others that its approach of taking extreme metal atmosphere but focussing on the foreboding sinister aspects rather than extremity, dissonance or brutality worked really well. Looking forward to this one
